--- NO OFFENSE! NO OFFENSE! That was the cry of Cowboys P.R. staffer Jacey Briles at practice this week. She was letting the T.V. photographers know that Jason Garrett didn't want any of the offense videotaped. Of course, we media types...forever the smart alecks... responded...we know...we saw the game in St. Louis.
--- My new friend Ron is the valet director at the House of Blues in Downtown Dallas. His take on his beloved Cowboys this year caught my ear. He says, "Nobody is hungry when they are full. The problem with this year's team...they are so full of talent...they are not hungry". Nice analysis. I told him...the only thing these Cowboys are full of...is themselves.
--- WADE PHILLIPS says this week...he needs to get more involved with the defense. More time in meetings...possibly more play calling...etc. To me, that's like it suddenly occurring to a CAB DRIVER...darn...I really need to get more involved in my driving. UH...WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN COACH? Isn't that what you were hired for?
--- PREDICTIONS... 4 or 5 top ten college football teams will lose on this Saturday...Cowboys will find a way to beat Tampa Bay on Sunday...(I'm gonna try one more week)...Offensive Coordinator Jason Garrett will gain back a little of his credibility this weekend...Florida is the team that wins the national championship...if I miss all these again...next week in this space there will be no predictions segment.
--- When it comes to the "WADE ON THE HOT SEAT" notion...if the Cowboys completely roll over against Tampa Bay or New York in the next two weeks...like they did in St. Louis...JERRY HAS TO MAKE THE MOVE. If a team doesn't respond positively...when adversity strikes...when the season weighs in the balance...when their backs are totally against the wall...rightly or wrongly...it falls on the coach. See... Avery Johnson at the end of the last Mavs season.

--- Just curious...has GOOGLE...made encyclopedias totally obsolete? And...also...how easy it for kids these days to do book reports or what we used to call "papers"?
--- My 6 year old daughter will be WONDER WOMAN for Halloween. Interesting, I think, since I spend most of my time WONDERING what kind of WOMAN she will grow up to be.
