Monday Musings

---Playing not to lose rather than to win is a pet peeve of mine. The Giants lived it Sunday. After New York's Terrell Thomas returned an interception to the San Diego 4 with 3:14 left in the game and the Giants leading 17-14, they had a chance to lock up the game. But after a holding call on first down moved the ball back to the 14, the Giants threw a short pass and then ran it twice and settled for a field goal. Why not take a shot and try and win the game right there? As it turned out, the Chargers drove to the winning score and win 21-20. A touchdown would have meant they had little chance to win it. The Giants made a major mistake playing it conservatively there.

---Why did the Dallas Cowboys run the Wildcat offense against the Eagles? Didn't Tony Romo come into the game hotter than the asphalt in Phoenix on a summer day? So they take the ball out of his hands? That's just dumb. Romo won the game with his big play to Miles Austin in the fourth quarter. Don't take the ball out of his hands. Ever.

---Is the heat on Giants first-year defensive coordinator Bill Sheridan? It is now. The Giants have had injuries on that side of the ball, but they just don't look the same. Where's the pass rush? Losing safety Kenny Phillips to injury was a real hit. They benched C.C. (Can't Cover) Brown this week in favor of Aaron Rouse, but he isn't Phillips either.

So what's the point? We're not supposed to run the ball ever?

This might make a little sense if Choice was stuffed on the play, but he wasn't. He scored. And there is no garauntee that Romo will get a TD on those plays. As we have seen against the Broncos, and this past weekend.

Let's see, when we ran the wildcat at the goalline, we scored a walk-in touchdown.

When we did nothing but pass at the end of the half (out of necessity, so I'm not complaining) we had to settle for a field goal.

those were the best running plays of the whole game. and the eagles never adjusted.

it picked up a key 1st down. got the TD. and would've had another big play had deon not been called for a suspect holding call.

Prisco was just mad because he has Romo on his fantasy team.

More likely he's mad because we won a huge game and now sit atop the NFC East.
I can think of no other rational explanation for his comment.

Prisco is just one of those clueless writers. turn crap into paychecks. Good for them, but certainly not worth the time reading this nonsense

Who does he think Romo is, Buehler?
:D

QB sneak and QB draw is all he needs. Just bench those crumby running backs put more WRs in the game.

Obviously Prisco can't see the forest for the trees. Now DCs have to be prepared for the Razorback as well as Romo, and the Barberian on the goal line.

Yes! Even if it results in a TD! Prisco, you're an idiot. If that play (or any that were run from that formation) would have resulted in a negative play, you'd have a point. Considering the outcome, you don't.
