I agree about cutting Brown and Stanback, but who do you keep if you cut The Proctologist? None of the other guys have shown anything either. Don't like the idea of keeping this guy for a fourth season but we might not have an alternative.

We signed Duke Preston a couple days ago to basically take Procter's place.

Preston takes Proctor's spot.

That's why he was brought in, IMO.

I was pleased with our first teamers, though I'd like to see our Offense put up more points with that kind of ball control but I'm not too upset by that. I feel pretty comfortable in a real game that we'd have their defense so wore out that we'd have put the game away pretty easily by the end of the 3rd and into the early part of the 4th with our starters.

I was pleased with Anthony Spencer tonight. I was more pleased with our special teams then I have been in a while. I thought they were pretty solid all around.

I think Kitna, who hasnt played with any first teamers really, has more than proven that he's an enormous upgrade at backup QB.

I was pleased with Austin tonight.

I think Stanback and Courtney Brown both punched their tickets off the team tonight.

Plus Procter with at least another 2 big mistakes.

1. Penalty on FG

2. Botched snap to kill potential drive.

Our key CBs that are both supposed to be very good didn't really look that good at all although both did defend a pass or two each.
Playing against backups I really hoped we might see big things from one or both (like an INT for example) but -
Even Newman looked off most of the time he played I'm just wondering was it scheme or(?)

I didn't watch the game. Did our starting corners look bad? I mean, SF only scored 3 points the first half. How bad did Newman, Scandrick and Jenkins play???

they didnt play bad at all, ignore the crybaby idiocy of some here

Niners had hardly any completions to wr's all night...and they averaged right at 6.0 yds per attempt for the game...nobody got open downfield

Jenkins played pretty damn well. Scandrick gave up a couple of completions...Newman gave up a couple playing in zone or off-man

well the fact that they had barely 100 yds total in the first half and 79 yards passing against our starters should say they played pretty solid.

Newman and scandrick broke up some passes, newman had a 43 yard punt return.

Our corners looked pretty good to me. Even Mickens played well today. Brown was awful as usual. I would throw on him 97% of the time I drop back to pass if I was a QB.

They pretty much threw screen passes all night.

Dude

Seriously?

Dude. Yes. Barber has the slowest burst to the hole of the top three guys. Felix Jones is clearly the best back on the team, but I think Choice is also a bit ahead of Barber right now. Choice is a no-nonsense running who gets the ball and hits the hole at top speed. Barber dances around and run indecisively at times. He's also prone to bouncing things outside and losing three yards when he should have picked up two.

I like Barber in the closer role, after the defense is tired and playing on its heels. That mitigates his main weaknesses and allows him to play to his strengths.

i think they compliment each other greatly and both succeed off the other.

to say who's better is pointless. together they're a great backfield. can't we just be happy about that?

I think the Dallas O will be very good. If the OL can remain healthy, Romo should have a huge year. I can honestly see us averaging 270 yds passing and 140 yds rushing a game, scoring around 28-30 pts a game.

I think our defense should be ok. I see us once again pressuring the QB like a bunch of rabid dogs. I am not sure if we will create a lot of turnovers. I will be happy if we could increase our turnovers by 10. If we can keep the same pressure we did last season, but increase our turnovers by 10, that is definitely a step in the right direction.

I am not as worried about our STs as others have been. I think Coach D is doing his best not to tip his hand on returns and coverages. It was good to see Folk hitting his FGs. I hope next week he gets about 3-4 more opportunities to build up a rhythm. McBriar is back from his injury. Beuhler is booming kicks on KOs. Austin and Ogletree should give us two legit KR threats. Crayton/Felix/Scandrick should give us some quality at PR.

If we can get rid of the dead weight on the roster.....Procter, Stanback, Watkins, Brown, and Cricket....I see it as addition by subtraction.

As far as the Niners go. I see them having a nice group of RBs with Gore, Coffee, and Sheets. They also have Robinson who seems to be a RB/WR/QB. I also liked what I saw of Nate Davis. IMO, he should get an opportunity to run with the 1st team. He looked like an NFL QB out there against us. I know it was against a bunch of Jags, but the guy was a field general. I am not sure about their receiving corp though. Crabtree is a putz for holding out.

The writing has to be on the wall for Proctor. Gurode started the 3rd quarter, I would imagine it is cause they dont have any confidence in Proctor.

Proctor needs to go back to the Blue Oyster Bar and stay there.
