I can't stand the hate Money gets. At the ELITE camp for kids.. gets no press. I celebrate the Zach pick because it shows a direction on offense. The hate Money gets is silly and I'm not sure how it's supposed to make anyone feel better. I guess in the sense that the Dallas media would have ate this kid alive and probably ruined his career before it even started.

For the record, it's reported pretty widely that he's been at the Elite Camp. It's not the ESPN lead, but it's all over twitter. All the media have RT pics and whatnot. That said, a do-gooder action will NEVER get the same traction as something like that Vegas pic alleges.

That is a sad truth of the world we now live in.

It's been like that since the days of yesteryear when journalism was referred to yellow journalism. People like to wax poetic as if there were no TMZ's and whatnot back in the old days. Scandal has always ruled the front page and good deeds were on the backpage.

I liked the pick at the time but must admit I had a huge crush on JFB. My comment to my buddy was "Manziel or Martin or this remote goes through the tv". In hindsight with the Lee injury Mosely would have been borderline clairvoyant. This picture is very difficult to defend but somewhat manageable for Cleveland. If Manziel is a Cowboy and that picture is taken it would be an absolute nightmare. I look forward to 10 years of pro bowl level abiet drama free years of Martin.

Question for the thread:

For those of you who watched ESPN coverage of the draft last May, how bad did the pseudo drama get with Chris Berman and company before Dallas picked Zack Martin?

I would usually flip the channel a few times to ESPN during the draft. but I completely boycotted ESPN this year. NFL Network made absolute butt-holes of themselves leading up to the pick. Practically every comment made was about how Jerry Jones would almost certainly pick Johnny Manziel. As I look back at the nonsense, I do not believe Manziel was ever that close to becoming a Cowboy as long as Martin was on the board. Just my opinion though. Still, I'm curious which network made bigger idiots of themselves in the minutes before Martin's selection.

It's their job to creat something out of nothing. Get those rating points - look smart if they are right. Have Del Kupper explain their way out of it if they don't hit it.
In the biggest guessing game of the year.

I usually like Jon Gruden okay, but he was the by far the worst regarding Manziel during the draft. Beginning very early in rd 1, he had almost every team taking the kid and was getting somewhat belligerent after while. Before the draft, he said JFB would be the second overall pick and even made a push for him going 1st overall. As the draft went on more and more teams passed on him, you could tell even Mel Kiper was starting to get irritated with Gruden's hero worship.

When Dallas was on the clock, Jerry was mentioned, but I think Kiper was not saying Manziel was the pick...though I do think they mentioned that anything was possible.

Honestly, I hardly find it that admirable for an athlete to "give back to the community." Lots of people do it all the time, but don't expect accolades and press releases. Want to change your life? Do some volunteer work with the Special Olympics. You'll never be the same.

If you're wealthy and famous for playing football, I would think attending a camp for kids would be a nice experience. Maybe that's just me.

Sounds like ESPN was more composed/subdued concerning Johnny Manziel than NFL Network. Ain't that a kick in the shins. lol! :)

That sealed my disinterest in Gruden to coach here forever. I once was for it.

I celebrate finally getting a Guard in round 1 after I have pimped for it 4 of the last 5 years. It's like Santa finally listened.

I loved the pick, but it's like getting new socks for Christmas when you wanted an xbox one.

I'm almost 30. I actually enjoy buying brand new socks, boxers, etc. Video games don't do much for me anymore. And especially nothing XBox related.

People do what they feel led to do. Volunteering anywhere, doing anything, is a good thing. Somebody is always going to appreciate the time someone took out of their day to do it. I don't think it's worth debating the worth of what people choose to volunteer to do with their spare time.
