Calgary Stampeders kicker Sandro DeAngelis was scheduled to work out with the National Football League Dallas Cowboys on Friday.

DeAngelis, who’s scheduled to become a free agent on Feb. 15 after five years with the Stamps, is ahead of the pace of last off-season when he didn’t manage to secure a tryout while exercising his option-year NFL opportunities.

The 28-year-old former Nebraska Cornhusker is the most accurate kicker in CFL history.

yeah but what if he is what we need hostile and we can get him cheap/ they said he was the most accurate kicker in cfl history;

and he is only 28, this would save us a draft pick used on a kicker too

also doesnt the cfl have their goal posts not as wide as the nfl? so if our goal posts are wider then what he is used to kicking through, wouldnt that be good hostile?

and remember you said you didnt like it when we signed brooking either hostile
this maybe a find for us and save us on a draft pick, too

Sandro DeAngelis (born May 1, 1981 in Niagara Falls, Ontario) is a Canadian football placekicker who has played for the Calgary Stampeders since 2005. He is also currently employed in the Millard Public School District, in Omaha, Nebraska, as a substitute teacher at Millard North High School.

[edit] Career
DeAngelis starred at fullback and linebacker for St. Joseph’s Collegiate High School in Buffalo, N.Y. and earned First-Team All-Western New York honours as a kicker in 1999, connecting on four field goals, while kicking 70 percent of his kickoffs into the end zone. He also rushed for 600 yards and nine touchdowns in just four games. As a junior, DeAngelis rushed for 1,821 yards and 22 touchdowns, while averaging 42 yards per punt, including a school record 84yard return. He also connected on five field goals and 37 PATs. DeAngelis’ longest field goal was a 46 yard kick as a sophomore.

DeAngelis was a first-team All-New York selection and was chosen as the Buffalo News Player of the Year and the Western New York Player of the Year, while earning honorable-mention All-America honors from USA Today. An outstanding student, he was a member of his school’s Collegiate Scholars Club, National Honor Society and earned academic All-Western New York honors.

DeAngelis went on to play college football at the University of Nebraska from 2000-2004. He was the team's starting placekicker for parts of three seasons.

He signed with Calgary as a free agent on March 8, 2005. In his first year, DeAngelis led the league in field goal percentage (76.9%) connecting on 40 of 52 field goals. He finished second in the league with 179 points and kicked the longest field goal of the season in the CFL from 56 yards. He finished third in the league with a 58.9 kickoff average. Sandro was named to the CFL Western All-Star team and CFL All-Star team. He was also named Player of the Week twice in Weeks 9 and 18.

In 2006, DeAngelis was the league's leading scorer, with 214 points. DeAngelis connected on a league leading 56 of 65 field goal attempts. His 86.2% conversion rate was second in the league. His 53 yard kick tied for the longest kick in the CFL. DeAngelis also led the league with 84 kickoffs and 4,762 kickoff yards. The 56.9 yard kickoff average ranked sixth in the league.

On November 23, 2008, DeAngelis won his first Grey Cup championship with the Calgary Stampeders against the hosting Montreal Alouettes. His 5 field goal performance, including one from 51 yards, earned him the Dick Suderman Trophy as the Grey Cup's Most Outstanding Canadian.

Sandro DeAngelis is a cool name, don't know if that helps. Hopefully he'll be awesome and we'll sign him and all will be good in the Cowboys' world.

He cant be any worse than Suisham, so sign him up Jerry.

I am wondering if he is so good, why has no other NFL team tried to sign him???

I like the idea of CFL kickers as they kick in awful weather and as we play in D.C., NJ, Phi every year were weather can certainly effect a kicker it makes a good bit of sense to me to get one that has thrived in such conditions.

Why? Feeling lonely and in need of a kicker's comfort?

Zero. She didn't mind sleeping with football players at all, just no kickers. Problem was, Hos was the kicker.

Why not take a look. He's obvioulsy accurate and as someone said earlier, if we can find someone and save a draft pick, that is certainly a good thing. Plus, I love the name.... it sounds like a bullfighter.

First of many to come through the doors this offseason IMO.

I'm sure if they dont bring a proven bvet in, they'll bring in several guys like this and then widdle it down to the best two for TC and Preseason.

But none of it will matter. Now that the Buehler is dedicating his time to placekicking, all others will come up short. The others will be too intimidated to mount a serious challenge.
