i wish his heart was better....

he coached us at the time when our star players were winding down their careers.

seems to be doing good at georgia tech.

he has heart problems though..

oh well......who would some of you like to coach the cowboys?

Bob Stoops might be worth checking out. He fits in that disciplinarian mold.

I am an unabashed Gailey apologist. I really liked what he brought to the team, especially the first season, his unorthodox usage of Michael Irvin and all of that included. Cowboys fandom was singing the praises of his offensive philosophy for most of that season, especially after the moribund crap we were exposed to in Switzer's last year in '97. I also remember the Dallas beat writers going on and on about the "laps after pre-snap penalties" rule that Gailey instituted in practices and his overall organized and disciplined approach.

Two unfortunate things happened to Chan in Dallas: a) injuries at the WR position during the '99 season, starting all the way back in July with James McKnight tearing up a knee; and b) having coached in an era of Jerry's ownership where the QB was free to go above the head coach and complain to the owner. Remember, a "refusal to hire an offensive coordinator" was the official reason given for the parting of the ways, but apparently word was leaked that Aikman had gone to Jerry several times toward the end of the season.
