What do you see us doing more or less of this year with the new weapons we got on offense. I keep thinking we will do more deep passing with max protect. I keep thinking if we give Glen and TO time they can beat anyone. I also keep dreaming that somewhere we find a power back becuse to me that two TE set would lend itself to that. I'm sure others got totally different random thoughts..

I think Parcells is grooming Polite to be a power back. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I like Lousaka, he just seems to have that heart.

A lot of play action screens to the TE's. Fake a slant and have the TE hold his bloclk long enough to get the backer to react, release out to the flats. Have TO and Glenn run off the corners.

We could do it to either side!

That's nice. I just wish Lousaka had skills, hands, and blocking ability.

Other than that, he has great heart.

Wasn't he a rookie last year?

A year in the weight and conditioning program can do wonders.

I doubt it..... I wouldn't be surprised if Lousaka didn't make the team.... he probably will, but he'll probably be inactive on game day a lot....

He's not going to make this team as just a FB. Do agree that Parcells grooming him as a power back but also giving him some TE duties, etc. Parcells made the comment in one of his PCs that he's not worried about Polite's passing catching abilities which would seem imply he's got pretty good hands. it was probably in the other areas that Polite was lacking-- blocking ability/picking up the blitz--as was Tyler Thompson. i think we should certainly expect more both from Polite (wasn't Polite on the PS in 04?)and Thompson in their 2nd season cause both should enormously benefit from offseason weight program and hopefully Polite (also Thompson) also spent time studying film on how to improve necessary onfield skills.

I'm intrigued in what we are going to do with Polite. Personally, I'd release him since I don't think we need a FB and if we do, we can either just re-sign him or find a free agent. I'd rather release him and use the roster spot on somebody else and I definitely wouldn't want to keep him and release Tyson Thompson, unless Thompson is acting up.

More Draw plays being ran from Julius. Less 8 man fronts with TO mostly double teamed, or Glenn, a guy each on each of our TE's. So more time for Drew to pass, and more room for JJ to run.

Hmmm, I think we should change our style for this season. How about a conservative ball control...control the clock...power running game?

If that fails we can go to roll out style offense that counts on our QB's ability to make things happen with his mobility!:p:

Our versatility is going to be our biggest strength. I think Bledsoe will be able to option into more plays based on how the defense presents.

agreed, i think that our offense will be dictated by the type of defense we play, and since in my opinion with have a pretty balanced offense, we can just attack the defense's weaknesses

I would love to see more HB Delay Draws. JJ tore people up with that his rookie season.

If BP is grooming Polite to be a power back, he has a funny way of doing it. Doesn't a power back actually have to run with the ball? I don't remember a lot of that happening w/Polite last year. When is big Bill going to explode w/this revelation? Don't think it's going to happen.

AFA what this offense will do:

  • This all depends on a solid OL. More draw plays to JJ. Due to the increased attention payed to TO & the 2 TEs creating more space in the second level, the RB will have more space in which to run. Also because DLs will be more prone to look for the pass, they will pass rush more often.
  • Much more play action w/ TO & the 2 TEs. Kind of a reverse of the first comment. Once defenses are softened up with a better running game, they will begin cheatin up, making them more susceptible to play action.
  • More crossing routes to free not only TO & Glenn, but the TEs, as well.
  • Finally, more deep routes. If all of the above is not enough for defenses to worry about, we now have 2 legitimate deep ball WRs. With all the other stuff bringing safeties & other DBs closer to the LOS, our WR will have a field day running post & fly patterns. Don't forget the occasional deep throw down the middle to Witten & Fasano because a FS or LB cheated up, or just got their jocks juked off.

I see alot of sweeps and screens with the small interior linemen he has on the roster. Guys that can get out in the open field.. I think the sweeps and Screens are perfect for Julius Jones, where he can use his blazing speed.

We will screen teams to death if they try and blitz - also we can max protect with 2 TE's in the game, and TO can find an opening if you give him that sort of time..

The biggest change to this team during the offseason was switching out LA for Kosier. BP has wanted to run screens since he first drafted JJ but all attempts have been foiled by slow interior line play. I think with this shift you'll see more sweeps and screens. The idea is keep off the interior rush by making D-Linemen and ILBs resepect the threat of a screen.

After that I'd expect to see some serious efforts on the parts of BP to attack specific matchups. What our team is designed to do best is exploit coverages.

Ultimately I think we'll prove to be a dangerous passing team and other teams will be forced to game plan on the idea of a base 4/2/5 D. Once this happens, you'll see us start to try to maul teams with the running game.

As others have said... We became better by eliminating our weaknesses not necessarily by becoming dominant in any one area.

Mobility, Bledsoe has mobility, it's just at snails pace, that's all.:D
