12:26 pm Chargers OLB Shaun Phillips on the Cowboys: "They're still America's Team, same (as) with Notre Dame. Even though they have ups and downs, they're still the Dallas Cowboys. They still have a great team and still send a bunch of guys to the Pro Bowl every year."

12:23 pm Chargers defensive coordinator Ron Rivera on QB Tony Romo: "As he goes, so goes Dallas."

12:22 pm Ron Rivera used the word discipline four times in five minutes when describing how his Chargers defense must play on Sunday against the Cowboys. He's concerned that QB Tony Romo can create big plays with his athleticism. He rated WR Miles Austin the foremost big-play threat. "They've got a great mix of running backs," he added.

12:20 pm Chargers LT Marcus McNeill on the Cowboys: "They match up well with us, epsecially sizewise. I think everyone in the NFL is going to be watching this game because we're both playoff contenders."

12:19 pm Chargers coordinator Ron Rivera credited his defensive coaches with helping him come up with a "blend" of blitzes and coverages and not allowing the defense to become "stagnant" in its tactics. "I think we have a great chemistry as a staff goes."

12:17 pm The late Jim Johnson taught Ron Rivera how to develop safety blitzes, which have become a staple for Rivera's Chargers defense this year. The Cowboys, however, saw a lot of Johnson's Eagles defenses and may know how to handle the safety blitzes. "That's why you've got to mix it up," Rivera said.

12:15 pm The Chargers (9-3) have won seven consecutive games since defensive coordinator Ron Rivera and his position coaches committed to more creative blitz packages that brought increased safety support. Rivera said the impetus was data from the first five games. "We looked at what had been working and what hadn't been working," he said.

12:13 pm Skeptics who pooh-poohed San Diego's win over lowly Cleveland last Sunday probably are feeling foolish today after learning that the Browns defeated the Steelers on Thursday night. The Bolts led 27-7 at Cleveland before holding off the Browns. "Our guys did a good job preparing for the game," Norv Turner said this week.

12:11 pm Chargers LB Kevin Burnett is a football philosopher and a former Cowboy who will be tasked on Sunday with defending, among others, Cowboys star TE Jason Witten. His thoughts? "Talk to me after the game," Burnett said with a smile. "Talk to me after the game."

Whahahahahaha ... I needed that ..

He must be afraid he's not going to make it through the game without an injury .. the great philosopher doesn't want to jinx it now ..
