I would like us to talk to him. If we can get him cheap, he would be a great addition for a couple of years. He knows the defense from day one.

Oh, I hope Wade changes things up some. I don;t want to see a repeat of the New Orleans game where Payton couldn't have played us better if he had been wearing Parcell's headset.

What trouble? Godfrey is a solid citizen.

Yes he is...

I seem to remember a couple of months back that Godfrey said he would love to come play for Phillips and end his career where it started...

Godfrey is no longer the player he once was. At this point in his career he's only a 2 down LB against the run. Don't see any need for him here. We brought Dat back to coach our insider linebackers and DC Stewart knows Phillips 34 system far better then Godfrey. I'd rather see us go with a young linebacker (maybe Hoyte moves back to FB to LB) whose got young legs & potential to improve.

With the log jam @ LB where is he going to play? Gonna take James' spot? Not likely with the dough that he's being paid. Ayodele? Nope. Carpenter? Stupid to stunt his development. Ware? Riiiight. Ellis? He's gonna lose his spot to Spencer (eventually). Maybe he could come in as a situational player, but how many LBs can we carry?

I like Godfrey. If he is truly enough of an upgrade to bring him in here at the cost of removing another player then we are poorer at LB than most know. Hopefully they don't give it more than a nanoseconds thought.

Who would you release from the team to make room for him even as a backup. He will take a roster spot. Burnett? James and his giantoenormous contract?

Godfrey should be a good one year deal at vet's minimum. He knows Wade's scheme and can help the young players develop.

I'm just hoping we don't get a repeat of the Parcells' era where he brought in every ex-Jet he could get his hands on.

Bringing Godfrey in could ONLY HELP in one way, shape or form.

Add me to the list of "never wanted him to leave"

I believe Dat is just our defensive quality control coach this year. I'd want Godfrey if we had a LB slot available. If Spencer basically takes Fowler's slot, we still have Singleton's slot open, don't we?

I'd love to get him in here if he would sign a cheap contract... Which he probably will have to do.

He doesn't have much left, but he's a good solid vet who knows Wade's scheme.

I'm not sure Wade's defense is going to be that hard. Sure LBs have to drop into coverage but it's not that hard IMO. I don't like the idea of bringing someone that old into the LBing corp. Godfrey is not good enough nor would be here long enough to take up a roster spot. Again who would you cut?

A few years ago this would have been a no-brainer. Now, it may be time to pass on him.
