I haven't even seen him blow by people with speed rush. That's why I am concerned. Usually that's the one move that doesn't need to be taught.

He is not a speed rusher. He is like a 4.8 guy. If he were a 4.6 guy he probably goes in the middle of the first round.

He needs to get by with strength and technique. He might get some speed rushes in but he will have to have the OL set up for it most of the time. It is really only rare freaks like Ware, Von Miller and Mathis who can get by with speed alone. The weakness of the speed rusher is they will often run themselves out of the plays and really open up space for the QB to operate when they don't get there (which is really most of the time).

I do think Lawrence will need to get stronger and perfect his technique to become a good pass rusher. He is a work in progress but he does look like he will be a productive starter. I don't think he will ever be a double-digit sack guy - maybe more like Greg Ellis.

Too bad Ellis was such a malcontent at the end, he'd probably be the best person to help Lawrence on technique and fundamentals when not overly gifted with athleticism.

It's always good to reach out to those who came before you and did it as great as Haley did.

DLaw needs all the help he can get, I have seen zero rush moves from him so far..................very disappointing.

Sometimes I wonder if Lawrence's lack of pass rush moves has something to do with Marinelli's simplified schemes. He might not want too much free lancing on the outside for now, just push and contain.

On TV it seems like DLaw is smaller the Romac and Bruce Carter... Might be a figmentation of my imagination...

Hope he teaches him the inside move he had. That separated Haley from others.

Greg Ellis has no problem with the Cowboys. He's been around the Cowboys post retirement.

I'm thinking along those lines as well. I think its more so about containing the QB and keep him inside his pocket then it is just rush the passer. It might be schemes.

Can't think of a better guy to coach him than CH.

I'm not sure I can trust your judgement. I can't really put my finger on it, but there just seems to be a little bit of bias in it for some reason.

I've heard Jimmy Johnson mention how smart of a player Haley was several times. Just because he had a little bit of a crazy streak, it doesn't mean he wasn't smart.

I'm sure he can be a great tutor for a young player.

Haley came out of my alma mater at 245, and made his bones in SF as a specialty LB. He turned himself into an NFL DE with Dallas. Lawrence is plenty big enough and quick enough to learn from Haley if he wants to work at it.

Haley understood leverage and hand work better than most people to play DE. He needed to excel at that to last as long as he did weighing 245-250 pounds. Lawrence will need that same skill set and knowledge to be productive as a rush end.

What I've noticed is that Lawrence lacks an upfield burst. I'm not sure if it's because of assignment football, but when it's 3rd and long, get the heck up the field.

Law had a pretty good game against the Colts. I wouldn't be surprised if he graded out pretty well. Dlaw's problem is the lack of playing time because of the injury. He is flashing to those of us that knows what they are looking at.
