I don't think anyone can fault Chaz Green for the effort in camp, practices, and games. He always seems to give it 100%. And when healthy, he is pretty good. Just seems to be bit by the injury bug. So, I think the challenge is to keep Green healthy and for Green to keep himself healthy. It could be that he just doesn't have it in him to stay healthy as a full-time starter. But, he can still be an effective swing OT. And he does have position flex on game day, both OT positions and G. Maybe the Cowboys can rotate the LG position - LG by committee - Cooper/Looney/Green each a few series at a time.

Maybe, but I think they set it up to be a battle between him and Cooper to see who could avoid injury in TC. The least injured likely wins.

Cooper has been injured at about the same rate as Green in his career. If you consider the two of them as one player, then you might get through a season.

Chance either plays a full season:
20%

Chance of getting 16 games between the two of them:
80%

difference is that Chaz had a terrible injury history in college as well so the odds of it changing are much less than Coopers.

Now to all the Nellie's..... He did miss camp time last year, only to come back and start.

"It’s unclear how much time Green will miss, but Jones did say the team is fortunate the injury occurred with several weeks before the Sept. 10 regular-season opener."

Jones Quote: on 3 players that are standing out in camp so far
And Jones didn’t leave out guard Chaz Green, who is battling for the starting left guard spot with Jonathan Cooper.

“I thought Green did some good work out there,” Jones said. “He’s getting better every time he’s out there.”

So, he may be out for the year.... . Or a few days, preseason is a long 5 games

I'll let this play out and let all the haters continue with their prognosis

cold hard fact is that the boys would be dumb to rely on Green.

Chaz Green's body seems as if it will only allow him to be a backup. As a swing tackle, I think he's fine. Asking him to do more than that seems as if it will be a huge risk, as he can't stay healthy. I'm not sure what S/C program he has, but he likely needs something that focuses on flexibility.

And to counter... Relying on Cooper would be akin

who has the worst overall injury history? Looks like we have to choose between the two of them and Cooper overall is a little better since he did not have the injury problems green had in college.

Not a huge edge but certainly a definite one.

Glazz Green?

there are just some people whose bodies cannot take the punishment of football. Since Chaz's injury history has been pretty consistent since the beginning of college (would love to know what it was like in high school) it seems there is really nothing that can be done.

Not "hating" being frustrated with a guy who continues to show that he can't stay healthy.

That's reality.

I'm not even sure you can rely on him as a backup.

It's an overused cliche, but availability really is enormously important. And Chaz Green is failing at that - time and time again.

I'd rather pick someone up when cuts start happening and just rid ourselves of Green. Even if you sacrifice a certain amount of talent - health and reliability is paramount.

I guess the idea is that sitting on the bench as a backup he might be less injury prone. But considering as far as I can tell all of his injuries have come during practice not games....

Some say "hater", some say "realist".

Bottom line is that Green has can't stay healthy. It even goes back to college. Without fail, his body fails him.

Which is even more concerning! If he can't stay healthy through a practice schedule, I'd be scared to put any amount of faith in him staying healthy when the games actually matter... .Even if it is in a backup role.
