Most Saints fans I talked to couldn't stand Gibbs. Sort of like Mike Zimmer, Jr.

Nice pick, Haley.

I just get the feeling Haley and that staff is going to go down in flames.

Hate to agree with a Garrett hater, but I have the same opinion. Haley seems too volatile to be a successful Head Coach. Good to great OC, maybe. I just don't see a great HC, unless he learns to really control himself.

if they don't replenish that roster, they probably will

Replenish? THey are just starting to put it together.

They suffer from what most teams in this era suffer from, they dont have a qb.

If they get a qb, in that horrible division they become a wild card contender.

I wonder how much interest in Roy Williams they would have if he is on the market. Gibbs I imagine would like to have some familiar guys.

Although from the way the pats took secondary players in new england I am not sure pioli would bring him in.

Makes sense on gibbs though. I thought it would be gibbs or bowles.

Haley was going to go done in flames regardless. He did not do anything spectacular in Arizona, any of us could have done what he did with the talent he had on offense.

Green never had a full season with Warner, Fitz, and Boldin. I think one season he got hurt and another season Green dumped him after 3 games for Leinart. Now that was a stupid move.

Probably had something to do with how terrible their line was back then too. They've replaced 4 of their 5 starting linemen since Green left.

But I thought it was simple to take over a bad team and do nothing but improve and get better? Play safe and make a bad team good?

No?

That is what I read on here daily, the easiest thing to do is take over a bad team and make them a winner because they were so bad.

I thought Gary Gibbs had already been hired elsewhere. I think he's a quality coach.

Haley can coach. And I think he's a good fit in KC for now. Mainly because if the players aren't jiving with what he wants, he can ask to get them cut and the Chiefs will probably oblige. However, he has the maturity of a 10 year old. I think he'll do well in the short term, the first 3 years or so, then when things go down hill they will really go downhill. Reminds me of a less mature version of Coughlin. But, Coughlin changed his attitude to a degree. I don't know if Haley would be willing to do so.

I'm still not sure what was wrong with Zimmer. He had an above average defense the majority of the time he was here.

Partly the problem was Bill Parcells, and partly the philosophy, from back when Jimmy was here, bent but dont break (difference was the personnel Jimmy had let him take liberties). Which depends a lot of good Cover Corners and blitzing. Once Parcells put a break to his blitzing and the weakenss at Corners started getting exploited, his Defense went south.

For example, with pretty Bad Personnell with Bengals, Zimmer did much better job than Marvin Lewis ever did. Zimmer is good DC, just not a great DC. It was the same with Campo, which didn't dictate to offense.

The easiest job is improving a horrid team. That is absolutely correct.

Making them "good"? That part is debatable.

Haley and Pioli should improve that team in short order but they may well suffer from a quick initial improvement, raised expectations then coming back to earth versus a more dificult schedule. That's fairly common.

Would I want Haley as my coach? Absolutely not. But I would love Pioli as personnel guy so it may work out. If they can add talent that doesn't hate Haley they could be good in that division.

Not being argumentative, but I disagree with both of you. I put in a vote for Pioli & Haley, if they can get decent QB play, I think you're going to see a team turn around in the near future. I may be wrong, but if I could change the Cowboys, I'd change GM & coaching staffs with them right now.

You can throw it in my face in a few years if I'm wrong

Oh, I definitely take Pioli as a GM. And I'd surely take Haley over Garrett as an offensive playcaller.
