SAS didn't say racist he just said "brothers want some answers....". The actual racist is Riley Cooper and he's still on the team. But you get rid of Lesean McCoy, Desean Jackson, Trent Cole, etc. because they don't fit the "culture". But a racist does? Something definitely doesn't add up.

That is the exact same thing SAS did. Doing everything except saying the words. It's pretty irresponsible to me.

Well its hard to call someone racist who's bringing in black players lol. I didn't get that from what SAS was saying at all. What Chip Kelly is doing should raise some eyebrows. Whether its stupidity or whatever. You talk about a culture change but you got rid of all of your best players and not one draft pick in return. Meanwhile, Riley Cooper still has a job. And why? Potential? He's a #3 receiver at best on most teams.

Philly Fanatic:
  • if they would have cut Riley Cooper last year this would not have come up
  • Philly has more white players than any team in the NFC East
  • Philly has only 1 black position coach

And Cooper is only making 4m a year. Maclin just got 11m and McCoy got 8m per.

I think Kelly is just dejsperately trying to hang on to his system at all costs. He will be back in the NCAA in 2 years.

I have no problem with Chip Kelly. He has repeatedly gone out of his way to state that he isn't a genius and that everything he is doing has been done before.

And it seems like he is trying to get his team to play with the discipline and training of Olympic athletes. He's trying to get them to perform to their potential and to stay healthy.

If that's 'tyrannical', then we maybe we do live in an entitled generation.

I think the whole racist thing is a crock in this situation as they were trying to bring in Gore and Maxwell as their top FA targets (not going there now) and it seems evident that they want Mariota in the draft even if it means trading picks away to move up and get him.

They have also let white player go this off season OT Herreman (sp?)

What I think is really here is that Chip thinks that he can run an NFL team like he can run a College team and many NFL Vets just don't go for that kind of thing.

And of course the media will eat it up with a dash of racism thrown in there...which is sad because there is enough real racial issues in the world to worry about without making more up. This is not the OU fraternity students chanting racist songs and remarks on a bus for all to see THAT is a REAL racial issue no two ways about it. That is not a guy or two in the media spit balling an idea about why this or that player is going away from a team with the eagles.

The one good thing about all of this as a Cowboys fan....it creates a crap storm in Philly revolving around the eagles and the HC and if helps keep quality FA from going there...that's a win.

I'd much rather have McCoy or Maclin for their prices than Riley Cooper at his price doing absolutely nothing. It brings me joy to see the Eagirls imploding. 49ers as well. I Love every minute of it lol. But for Chip...I just don't understand it.

I think the question at hand is it seems that Chip wants certain players he can CONTROL. Just like a head coach to a college player. Anyone with a strong personality can't be on his team. It raises some eye brows. I raised my eyebrows when they wanted to get rid of Desean and the way they decided to do it was put out fake gangster allegations to his name...

I think its easier to tolerate these movesif they are getting draft picks for these releases but they aren't. Very odd.

Agreed...he wants guys he can control.

Desean was a bit of a head case in college...one of the reasons he fell like he did.
He was a head case with the eagles over the years.

So I did not raise an eyebrow at all when they were going to let him go.

The others going on and you know the players are talking and that is why players like Maxwell and Gore have changed their minds...is going to hurt that team.

He is better suited for the College game (like Saban).

Funny thing is he fought to get total control of personnel this offseason and if this kind of thing continues the owner can only blame the HC for FAs not wanting to come in.

Well if players are shying away because he's too tough on people, his practices are too hard, and his conditioning is just too much...well boo freaking hoo...

Now don't get me wrong I'm loving that it is hurting the Eagles. That makes me happy as can be.

But if those are really some of the reasons then the players today are real sissy's.

The thing is...Chip isn't saying anything. Because he does things a little differently people just assume he's some overbearing, obnoxious jerk.

To me, he's just trying to coach the team the way he has always coached teams and he feels is the best way to do it instead of following the norms of the league. Much like Parcells who said the biggest mistake he made his 1st year with the Giants was trying to be what he thought an NFL coach looked like instead of coaching the team his way.

I hate the Eagles as much as anybody and would love to see Chip Kelly go 1-15 next year. But, it's because he is the coach of the Eagles and I hate the Eagles, not because of his behavior and attitude. I wish more coaches would have his attitude and open mindedness. It may liberate performance of the league.

There's a saying that the 7 most expensive words in business are 'that's the way we've always done it.'

I take a guy like Pete Carroll who has coached defense his entire coaching career and he was open minded enough to allow an assistant to research rugby style tackling techniques and allow that assistant to incorporate them into Seahawks practice. The end result was the Seahawks are by far the best tackling team in the league and dramatically lower their odds of tackling related injuries. Yet, we still have the rest of the league using old tackling techniques that can cause concussions, stingers, spinal injuries and break collarbones. But...that's they way the league has always taught tackling.

Good poing regarding Pete. I'm still not sold on the Chipster but I respect your position.

Whoa. Maxwell has changed his mind too?

I knew when he got full control it was going to be the death of his NFL career. I don't even think Jimmy had FULL control when he came here from Miami.

The only reason I say Desean raised eyebrows was because he and McCoy were that offense. So to just outright cut him with no compensation was incredibly weird. Its one thing to get rid of guys in their 30's...he's getting rid of guys right in the middle of their prime who have trade value.

I'm not sold on Kelly either. I just don't see the 'arrogance' and self proclaimed genius either. Every time he's been asked about his system and being touted as a genius, he shoots it down and said that everything he does has been done before.

It's funny how the media tends to jump on the 'Chip Kelly is arrogant and thinks he's a genius' bandwagon when he repeatedly acts quite humble. Yet, when Belichick was in private telling the NY press that the Jets defense was good because of *him* and how brilliant he was at the Jets D-Coordinator while working for Parcells...Belichick is 'just a good, down-to-business football coach.'

You just described Bill Belichick perfectly, and you'd be amazed at some of the people who criticize him for it.

I can actually buy into the theory that vets might not want any part of Chip's offense. That system is great for 18-20 year olds with a roster of 100 guys. But a pro team with guys in their late 20s and early 30s can be a bit daunting. I think the Eagles wore down last year. The NFL season is a grind to begin with, add in a full blown hurry up offense and it's a gauntlet.
