Chip is a smug a-hole in my opinion. There are few coaches I like less than him. But a racist is just not how I would describe him.

I can actually buy into the theory that vets might not want any part of Chip's offense. That system is great for 18-20 year olds with a roster of 100 guys. But a pro team with guys in their late 20s and early 30s can be a bit daunting. I think the Eagles wore down last year. The NFL season is a grind to begin with, add in a full blown hurry up offense and it's a gauntlet.

Dont get me wrong I think his system and what he does to his Defense are stupid as heck.

But the idea that his practices are just too hard and he tries to condition them too much...get out of here with that crybaby crap.

You're making tons of money to work out and play a game. I don't want to hear none of that crybaby junk.

You just described Bill Belichick perfectly, and you'd be amazed at some of the people who criticize him for it.

Turns out Gore and Andre Johnson jointly decided not to go to Philly, but rather Indy. Apparently, Gore heard about Chip Kelly's overbearing personality and did not want to deal. This is what other Philly players have alluded to (very tough practices, conditioning, etc.). He may be a "genius," but the disciplinarian, tyrannical college schtick does not work with pros who, in many cases, earn more than the coach. Sorry Chip.

Gore and Johnson are in the twilight of their careers. They don't want to participate in grueling practices like they've just come out of college. I'm not surprised at all.

I disagree. The NFL is demanding both physically and mentally. Those who are prepared to endure both aspects for the long haul will be most successful. Chipster's program is not conducive to this ...no matter the age. Youngins have to be prepared more so mentally. ..old heads need to be prepared more so physically.

Hilarious. Wish I could have heard that live...
"Chip IS the GM"
"Oh Ehm Geezuz, what?!"

If there is a recording of that anywhere- I would love to hear it.

Source: NFL Has Tape of McCoy “Threatening to Hit” Chip Kelly
By Vansh Bansal

The Eagles sent shockwaves across the NFL last month, trading away star running back LeSean McCoy to the Buffalo Bills. Fans were largely left in the dark as to why head coach Chip Kelly would trade the franchise’ leading rusher. Some pointed to a slight dip in production, while others speculated of a falling out between coach and player.
According to a source with ties to NFL Films, the league has footage of running back LeSean McCoy “threatening to hit” Chip Kelly during the last game of the season against the Giants. The source claims that the league knew McCoy would “be off the team months before” the trade was announced.

if this is true then that might explain things. BUT then again in the heat of a game a lot of things are said. So I wonder.

I have a problem with players who think like this. The NFLPA has done a good job at protecting them from overbearing practices and if what is now constituted is accepted then so what if there are tough practices in the time allotted.

Jimmy is rolling his eyes right now.

I agree however I will say with Jimmy it was easier because so many guys were young as he weeded out the older players. These guys were fresh out of college and Jimmy style was similar to what they had known before turning Pro. The downside to his style is as players get more mature and are getting big money they tend not to respond to that coach. I think another example of that was with Mike Ditka the act was great at the start but faded over time and become more of a detriment than motivational.

Did they really loose out on anything? Gore is old and they ended up with two other running backs (when healthy) are very good. They spent more money, but I wouldn't be worried if I lost Gore.

SAS didn't say racist he just said "brothers want some answers....". The actual racist is Riley Cooper and he's still on the team. But you get rid of Lesean McCoy, Desean Jackson, Trent Cole, etc. because they don't fit the "culture". But a racist does? Something definitely doesn't add up.

Riley Cooper made a mistake by using some racial slurs. That doesn't mean he is racist. If the truth was known, there are very few people that hasn't used racial slurs at some point in their life. It doesn't make them a racist for life.

Whoa. Maxwell has changed his mind too?

I knew when he got full control it was going to be the death of his NFL career. I don't even think Jimmy had FULL control when he came here from Miami.

The only reason I say Desean raised eyebrows was because he and McCoy were that offense. So to just outright cut him with no compensation was incredibly weird. Its one thing to get rid of guys in their 30's...he's getting rid of guys right in the middle of their prime who have trade value.

Both players seemed to have attitude problems and put themselves above the team from time to time. Maybe it is an attitude problem with the players instead of a racial problem with the coach. In other words, they was not the RKGs for what he wants from his team.
