Choice getting bigger role

I've been preaching for past few weeks that because of our OL, Choice should play more and most likely do better than both Jones and Barber behind this sorry OL.

Before you guys jump on me with FJ is better, blah...blah.., he may be better if we had a line that can actually give him some space to operate. Or if we had Shanny's Denver type of zone blocking scheme. But because our O-line can only provide small opening for very short period time, someone like Choice, who can hit the hole quickly, and can squeeze thorough has better chance of getting us consistently 3-5 yards with some bigger runs once in awhile.

Eh...he'll get 3 carries, get nowhere behind that busted offensive line, and then Wade will bring in Barber for the rest of the game.

exactly what i was thinking.....Get ready for 3 or 4 razorback plays nuffin more for choice:bang2:

What does telling us about Felix's stats against the Titans have to do with people clamoring for Choice over Barber?

Crap, meant Choice over Jones.

Maybe a mod can edit now.

I can't remember how much time was left...but, it does fall on the coach for not just telling Romo to take a knee. That would eliminate Romo and Choice from the mistake that was made. They might have even won the game?

So see, I can't even make up my own mind...everything about this team leaves me scratching my head!

:laugh2:

I've disagreed with some on that, and you will probably disagree with me, but I don't consider the coaches decision to be as bad as some do. Yeah, taking a knew would have been the safest thing to do, but the reality is that if Romo had handled the situation as he should have it still should have been a very safe play. The mindset in that situation is to throw the ball deep, and if something happens that doesn't allow that, throw the ball away or go down. Romo has to know that a dump off pass accomplishes nothing other than to take a risk with no possibility of reward. The other thing that made it incredibly stupid on Romo's part is that I don't hink it was a pass at all. I think Choice was behind him, making it a lateral, and therefore had the ball hit the ground it would have been a fumble. Maybe the coaches should have/could have avoided even the possibility of anything happening, but Romo should have been smart enough to deal with it in a way that eliminated these kinds of risks.

We need to figure out future of our running back rotation. Need to know if Choice can make some plays and be consistent behind what has been an "average" at best run blocking OLine this year.

There will be lots of bodies in the backfield, just like Felix and Barber have been facing.

Barber probably doesn't have the gas any more.
Felix needs to drop some weight for sure.
Choice has a chance to supplant Barber and join Felix. I think they would be a good tandem.

Until Barber and his massive contract are released, he would remain a short yardage back I guess.

I am a huge Barber fan, but he doesn't look anything like he did 3 years ago, or 2 years ago.

Choice better realize that if he gets piled in backfield 10 times, he won't look any better than Felix or Barber have so far this year though. Ok, Time to STEP UP. He did it for a few games at end of 2008. Hope to see it again.

Remember that fable, the turtle and the rabbit (i would have said 'the tortous and the rabbit, but i cant spell tortious?). Remember who won that race?

Anyway, just because you are the fastest runner does not really mean that the mediocre runner cannot be just as effective.

This goes back to letting the guys that have not had a chance to showcase themselves to get that chance. We might be surprised...

But, I would almost guarantee you, that if Choice and the team march down the field and get to the, let's say the 5,6,7 yard line, and it's first down...guess who will come in?

I know Stevie Wonder can see it from here...so will the other team, then guess what? Three runs and you are out! This happens to often...

I think all these people clamoring for Choice over Barber need to remember the above. That was an outstanding game against a solid Tennessee's D, which while poor vs the pass has been pretty stout vs the run.

Jones has the most yds rushing by any RB vs Tenn this yr (and the only 100 yd game). They've played against McFadden, Jones-Drew, Mendenhall as well.

I didn't know that about Tennessee's defense and Felix.

I agree with you about that for sure.

Barber doesn't have the running room, either.

Choice is quicker and faster, but you are right in your observations. When multiple guys are running free, you are going to struggle to run the football in the NFL. Dallas is 30th in the NFL is rush offense.

I think Choice is a quality back, but some of his fans might be in for a rude awakening with this offensive line. Like I said, the left side, with Kosier back, is Choice's best hope. Free and Kosier and the TEs or WRs can get you a crease to escape and get into the secondary.

Leonard Davis and Marc Colombo can't hold a block, either.

Leonard Davis against the Bears was horrible in the running game.

If anyone wants to know why a counter left run will not work, look no further than one Leonard Davis.

Colombo was letting guys run free in the running game last week.

Leonard Davis how can he suck so much so fast. The run game should be him and columbo specialty because the are big and strong and should just bullrush people out the way but they suck so much. Against the Giants during a running play behind leonard davis, idk which gap it was, but i saw JPP of the giants, number 90, just manhandle Leonard Davis in the whole forcing jones to have to bounce outside and get no where. It was very sicking to what I thought it was canty but look at the reply and the giant JPP, a de about 280 at the most, just made leonard davis look weak. I mean JPP just stood in the whole while Davis was just sitting their with his hands on him, its like davis move your feet and bury that guy. MAN lazy people is what's killing this team.

too bad holland always gets injured every game.

Davis and Columbo are not focused on football...they are more interested in getting there rock band togeater...

"We are the chowder men, come on, come on...
We are the chowder men, come on, come on...
We are the chowder men, come on, come on...",...or whatever the hell that song was about?

I'd like to see what he can do but I think FJ still gets the start.

Or this is the start of the 'assessing players value for the new head coach' faze. Or increasing player value since someone is likely to not be around a few months from now.
And- if Choice's yardage is well below too it definitely puts the blame directly on the o-line. :)

Me too. I've been screaming for this since last year. Choice is your main back. Felix is your change-up explosive guy. and Barber is your finisher. It should have never been any different. Now watch it work now that it's too late for the change to matter.

And who is to blame for that...? The players, the coach, the runner? Karma? What....?

I'm guessing the players...I mean, they do follow the coaches lead.

Ahhhhhhhhhh.... What a beautiful end to a glorious day. My boi TChoice23 and Lil Weezy getting freed in the same week? Someone please pinch me. One word easily describes both. Vision. You either have it or you don't. It's goin down Sunday!!!! Screw worrying about serving up crow to the perpetual doubters. I'll be too busy revelling in Choice's coming back out party. Woooohooooo!

In some tents it has been stated that both MBIII & Felix aren't good and a capable back would be fine with the current blocking.

If Choice gets blasted behind the line on most carries then I suppose that might be a good indicator of where the problem starts. (the blocking)

GB ranks 25th in the league in run defense, giving up 123.6yds per game. 24th in the league is us. They also rank 25th in the league in yds per rush allowed at 4.6. We are tied for 23rd.

Could be a game where we may actually be able to run some. Only Washington ranks worse in run defense of the teams we've played so far this yr, based on current rankings.

Remind me again why people keep creaming their pants over Dom Capers and Jim Haslett? Only Houston is worse in total defense than Washington, and we are still ranked ahead of GB despite how bad we've played recently.

Let me get this straight.

1. People love him.
2. He fumbles once
3. people hate him
4. people despise him
5. Jones and Barber suck
6. people love Choice again.

Strange place.

been a fan since hes been drafted. quickly became my favorite cowboy.

but truth be told hes not starting because of jones draft status and barbers contract. hes the complete back on this team. but as we all have seen draft status and contracts overrule what u can bring to this team.
