What a pick up for Dallas in the 4th ROund of Draft 05'. Second day pick Chris Canty may have been the best 3/4 Defensive End taken in the entire draft.

Hoping Dallas can have another successful year in the Draft like last year.

Name another rookie 3/4 DE that you would rather have on your team.:starspin

Castillo is pretty good, but ya I like Canty a lot. Canty is gonna be the best imo.

We don't here a lot about Canty, isn't he supposed to have one more surgery on his eye this off-season? Thought I read that at the beginning of camp last year.He was a great pick up for us, and will get better each year in the league.

I don't know really, but I think Canty made a good impact on the defense. He was the most consistant rookie by far in 2005.

This year if he doesn't need any more surgery, he will be able to lift weights and work out like everyone else. I believe last year he was limited due to not wanting to put any stress on the eye after the surgery.

I thought he did very well at the begining of the season but tailed off later and Spears did just the opposite started slow but got better as the season went on

Canty played well.

But don't kid yourself about him being the best 3-4 DE in the draft.

Ask any team around and see if they'd be willing to part with a first rounder for Canty.

I think you'll see his worth after that.

I really look forward to seeing Canty play after a year in our weight training program.

Also, it will be another 8 months removed from his knee surgery and he should move even better.......we got a real player looks like.

We saw 70% of Canty

Spears was also hindered early with Knee. Our 3-4 DE's are foundation blocks. We added Ware on the edg.

Go get a Manny Lawson, Witherspoon, Thomas Howard and we are nasty.

I'm more worried about our OT's than our DE's. Canty and Spears are fine.

I agree with Eddie, I'm more worried about our OL than the DL. I like the additions of Canty and Spears and I believe both will benefit greatly from an offseason in the weightroom. Either through FA or early in the draft, we need to address the OL issues and considering the impact, or lack thereof, that our young OL made this year, I'm more inclined to think that we'll try to address the OL through FA rather than the draft. Without some "effective/productive" additions to our OL, we'll suffer through another year like the one we had this year.

Yes. Canty and Spear are great foundation blocks for the D line.
Now lets get the O line in the same shape and we are going places.:starspin

Ask how many teams are kicking themselves in the nuts for not taking him before the 4th round while your at it.

Are you kidding me? I bet there will be handful of teams that are willing to do that, as long as they don't have top 10-15 picks.

No doubt he was the best 3-4 DE, considering, where he came from with injuries and all. You seem to think every Cowboys players is overrated or what? I think Spears next best one on Cowboys team, with probably Lious Castillo second to Canty at this time or probably he is equal to Spears.

And no way, Cowboys even will try to see the value of Canty. You don't get Canty's every year in draft, especially since he has proven he can play at high level. You are not average when you close to leading tackler on DL as rookie and playing mostly as second stringer or rotation player.

I believe they said he would need LASIK surgery to get his vision to normal, he wore a contact this past season in that eye. So he should be able to lift weights all offseason this time.

Thats good news SPEED! All our 2nd year players, not just Canty will benefit hugely from offseason workouts this year. But I think Canty will make a quantim leap forward, just by getting into the program and doing what he could not last year.
We will look back at the 2005 draft in a few years, and marvel at the talent we drafted - fantastic...

I'm sure that would really hurt a lot. But I'm trying to figure out exactly how they can do that to themselves. Must be really flexible. LOL.

.

Are you saying he was worth a first rounder, or are you taking the contrary position?

Most scouts felt he would have gone in rd 1 if not for an injury.
