“@RapSheet: Dolphins hosted OT Eric Winston. They considered trading for Branden Albert. Had Bryant McKinnie in Mon. Tyson Clabo visiting MIA tonight”

Have a feeling, Cowboys OL will only add Frederick, I hope not.

Im not even that high on Clabo. I'm probably in the minority there but he's at that stage that once he loses the little bit of footwork he has he is going to go downhill quick. Like Colombo.

If we can get him on a 1 year deal than fine but i'd be affraid to give him more than that.

I think, the staff would ideally like to only add Frederick, and just have Free take a pay cut, and battle with Parnell for the starting RT job. While staying as the swing tackle incase Tyron Smith gets hurt.

If I had to guess staff doesn't feel we have room on the roster for Smith, Parnell, Free, AND one of the FA tackles. And their top choice would be to get Free to take a paycut and stick with what they have and let Free and Parnell battle for the starting RT spot.

I believe that the staff feels that Parnell can be a solid starting RT in the league. Maybe they are right, maybe they are wrong. On the limited snaps he got last year, I certainly can't make an honest judgement.

We have had talks with both Clabo and Winston. But we need a decision from Doug Free before we can make a move, since we can't afford them otherwise. And Jerry said after the draft that the Doug Free situation would be next on his agenda.

Right or wrong, if Doug Free takes a paycut, we are likely done with the OL. And Parnell and Free will battle for the starting RT position. With Free staying as the swing tackle. If Free refuses to take a paycut, he will be cut, effective June 1st, and Winston/Clabo/ect will be brought in.

I honestly see us picking up no one and starting Parnell which is not good but bound to happen

Parnell is fine with me. He was an excellent run blocker last season and had all the tools needed to thrive. I'm more concerned with the guard situation.

I don't so much worry about who starts at RT because I see no way Doug Free beats Parnell in a competition for the starters' role. And I really like Parnell's upside (he was already decent when rotating in and that's with little/almost no experience at the position). But the feeling of being one injury away from Free being put back into action - it is terrifying.

The Romo contract freed up the money to sign any of them. Then you release Free on June 1st to sign the rookies.

Easy peasy.

I'm worried about both spots as long a Free is wearing a star on his helmet. My favorite route would be to sign Winston/Clabo to a two-year deal. That way, regardless of who starts at RT, you have good depth in case of injury.

The Cowboys could have signed one by now IMO. I don't think they are going to sign anyone else, they would have by now. Why let these guys talk to other teams if they were really going to sign one and risk losing out?

Real simple, signing one of those guys has always been last resort. Right or wrong, the first choice has always been to get Free to take a paycut.

This is just my personal opinion, I don't have any hard data to back it up. But, I got a feeling that the staff doesn't think that Free is as bad he played especially early last year. And that last year, especially early last year was just a bad year for him.

Why would Free take a pay cut? Makes no sense, in this day and age it's all about money. Free thinks he deserves it, if he doesn't take a pay cut, he will earn more over the next two years..

If he does take a pay cut, I will be honest, Free will earn my respect and I will be actually rooting for him. Team first, money 2nd does not happen often..

Maybe they are going to tweek the blocking scheme again and they feel Free might handle it better, IDK.

When Free was decent in 2010/2011, what exact blocking scheme was used and how much different was it this past season?

The leverage to get him to take a paycut is simple.

Look at what OT's are getting on the market right now. If you don't take a paycut, we will cut you, and you try and get what we are offering on the open market.

If he believes he can get more than we are offering on the open market, he will resist taking a paycut, and we will waive him. I think while he is not doubt hesitant to take a paycut, he will realize that the $3 mill or $4 mill we are offering (or what ever it is, I am just guessing I don't really have any idea) is more than he can get on the open market.....

There are a lot of guys available and we'll settle RT at some point in the near future. There are at least 5 guys out there with experience as a starting RT.

If the Dolphins grab Clabo instead of Albert then that just means Albert becomes best available with a price that has to be dropping in trade commodity.

Dallas could very well still go Winston for the 3.5m a year figure after releasing Free and basically break even the next two years on the cap.

Pretty far form time to panic at RT.

Although if the choice is Free vs Parnell during training camp I will panic.

At least Parnell has some athletic ability and upside. We could potentially luck into something there.
