Raise your hand if you realized that Scandrick started over Claiborne.
In the 1st half, Claiborne was primarily just in when they played Nickel with 3 CBs. Later in the game he did play some snaps in the base defense.
I've seen several post sayings that Claiborne shouldn't be starting, but in reality he really wasn't starting.
I re-watched the game on the ALL-22 and Claiborne was not as bad as it seemed watching it in real-time.
The long TD pass was a push-off by the WR. It would be good to see Claiborne be able to recover from it, but technically it should have been a penalty.
On the long pass completion on the sideline, he pulled up and tried to go for the INT but he had miss-judged the ball.
On the TD on the reception in the end-zone, the Rams got by with a pick play on Scandrick. It was actually Scandrick's man that caught the TD, but it appeared that Scandrick was covering the receiver that intentionally bumped him out of coverage. The Rams ran several similar plays trying to pick the coverage guy. They got called for it once and they did it legally another time or two, but the one that resulted in a TD was definitely not a legal pick.
He did have a good blitz and got a good hit on the QB. He was a split second from a sack, but that young QB has a quick release.
Claiborne does do some things that are irritating, like complaining about getting called for holding when he clearly did it; however, overall he was not as bad as people are saying. Somebody posted that he was pointing fingers at other players, but I didn't see that.
There were a lot of plays were he had good coverage and the ball went somewhere else.
With Scandrick having started the game, that makes Claiborne the 3rd CB. If people judged him as a 3rd CB, instead of judging him based on his draft status, I don't think there would be many complaints.
There were years where the Cowboys didn't have a starter that was as good as Claiborne, and definitely didn't have a 3rd CB as good as him. People forget the Dwayne Goodrich, Mario Edwards, Nate Jones , Pete Hunter, Jacques Reeves, etc.. years.
