I can understand that. I don't know if they can't figure it out or they're just going by what they were told as to why. I have no idea. I can only assume by Mo's reaction that the Rams game he was actually slated as the starter but afterwards they did tell him he wouldn't be the starter anymore.
The whole Nickel defense concept seems to confuse a lot of people. They saw Claiborne playing a lot and are just too lazy to review the game footage and realize that he didn't start. It probably didn't help that the Network graphic showed Claiborne and Selvie as starters despite the fact the Scandrick and Crawford were the actual starters at those positions.
The media expects Garrett to do the work for them and explicitly tell them before the Rams game that Claiborne is not going to start. They can't be bothered to actually figure out the facts for themselves. They don't have time for facts when they all need to jump on local radio to espouse their opinions on Claiborne leaving practice due to a demotion.
