Cornerbacks: Tim Jennings, Buccaneers (-6.1) and Morris Claiborne, Cowboys (-4.8)

Jennings was targeted 10 times, and allowed seven catches for 123 yards and two touchdowns. Not a great day at the office for him. He also missed two tackles and had a pass interference penalty. Claiborne was targeted far less, only four times. But, he allowed all four to be completed, and even worse, allowed 80 yards after the catch. When your average catch allowed goes for 30 yards, you definitely didn’t have a great day.

I dont understand! Wasnt this supposed to be our 10 mil. dollar per year corner who single handedly shut the two best receivers in the NFL in Odell Beckham and Julio Jones down?

PFF hasnt been kind to Claiborne this year
Yeah, he could help himself if he stopped sucking so much.

Face it Mo is what he is. DEPTH. Not a starter, not a nickel. DEPTH. He's too injury prone and simply not good enough to be a reliable starting corner in the NFL.

They've had A LOT of questionable scores for players this year. Incredibly disappointing.

Anyone who says Claiborne was bad in any of the games before the Pats (Even in the Pats game, he wasn't "terrible". He's never going to be an elite tackler, like many corners), you're simply ignorant.

Do I have to own you again like in the previous thread on Mo Claiborne?

PFF actually grades Carr out better this year

I have no idea how they could have came to that conclusion

Interesting thing about Claiborne is that he seems to be a willing tackler. He doesn't shy away from it, it's just that he's really poor at it.

Been mentioned many times but the guy is a bust and waste of a high draft pick.

Our record in drafting secondary players high in drafts is putrid. :banghead:

How do they account for the DB being picked, taken out of the play and the WR gets 50+ YAC? They dont.

That's insane. The yards Carr gave up in the Falcons game nearly equaled the amount of yards Claiborne gave up in 3 games. There has been a lot of scores PFF has given out this year that has left me scratching my head.

Carr is simply terrible and at his best, he's average. He's been this way since the beginning of 2014.

Well this is predictable. People in here jumping on the "see I told you he sucks" posts. Besides the play where he slipped I bet he was picked on every one of those plays. He's been above average at worst this season and people can't even admit that. Says much more about anyone eho can't admit that than it ever could about him.

I think he is the best of the starting 4 defensive backs.

I think his play has been above average this year but certainly not spectacular.

Not shutdown, but good enough to be a starting CB in the NFL this seson. It's the people holding previous seasons against this season's performance that irk me. Criticize the pick? Fine. Criticize the last 3 seasons? Fine. No reason whatsoever to act like he hasn't done his job pretty well through 5 games.

Edit: not referring to you, just in general.

I dont know if I would say putrid. Williams was a very good SS until injuries took its toll. Newman gave us alot of good years at CB. Jenkins play was spotty but that was more to due with his healthy. When healthy he was a very good CB. Unfortunately it just wasnt often. However if you look at alot of CBs drafted where he was, he is about par

I'll admit. I did point and laugh when he tripped over his 3rd foot on that one play. Outside of that, he has been pretty solid this season. Although he clearly didn't play well against the Pats, if you factor in his overall play this year, he is playing well enough to obtain that coveted second contract. Funny how that works... Most of today's professionals elevate their play in a contract year. That scent of money can be smelled from a mile away.
