Interesting thing about Claiborne is that he seems to be a willing tackler. He doesn't shy away from it, it's just that he's really poor at it.

Trying to be fair on this. His technique is shaky and he's good at chasing receivers but so are a lot of average corners. He's had a few good plays (broken up passes) but missed opportunities for bigger plays such as pics. We all know his misfortunes with injuries (out of his control) and I'm willing to let this be his year to thrive or slide but that's it. The Pats first TD drive was about 75% Claiborne's responsibility and he just looked bad in that drive and lost thereafter. For those who think he should be playing like a 1st round back, he'll never be that because he has not tackling skills and no consistent or solid man on man technique. Overall I think he's just average corner which was a poor first round selection. If you sign him, it better be for an average corners wage on a very short term. Myself, I would never have a corner who couldn't/wouldn't tackle. It's just sad to watch a defensive pro football player who can't or won't take the angle to tackle.

No, I'm just here to make you feel bad. I will not pat myself on the back until you cry. I can feel that coming sooner rather than later. Go ahead. We will wait.

Is looking just at his targets a complete picture?

Could only four targets to a primary receiver indicate good coverage which took that receiver out of the play?

Seems like a ridiculous metric to entirely base a performance on.

I'll admit. I did point and laugh when he tripped over his 3rd foot on that one play. Outside of that, he has been pretty solid this season. Although he clearly didn't play well against the Pats, if you factor in his overall play this year, he is playing well enough to obtain that coveted second contract. Funny how that works... Most of today's professionals elevate their play in a contract year. That scent of money can be smelled from a mile away.[/quote]

Assuming that he gets a 2nd contract, I doubt that it'll be that lucrative. Taking everything into consideration, the FO will] very probably decide to make his next contract offer an appropriately average one. At this point, more than anything else, he's probably fighting just to retain his job than to get rich. I would imagine he probably realizes his negotiating position won't be one of strength.

They've had A LOT of questionable scores for players this year. Incredibly disappointing.

Anyone who says Claiborne was bad in any of the games before the Pats (Even in the Pats game, he wasn't "terrible". He's never going to be an elite tackler, like many corners), you're simply ignorant.

They're only questionable if you don't understand their methods and if you believe their grade is an actual indication of how good or bad a player is.

Not shutdown, but good enough to be a starting CB in the NFL this seson. It's the people holding previous seasons against this season's performance that irk me. Criticize the pick? Fine. Criticize the last 3 seasons? Fine. No reason whatsoever to act like he hasn't done his job pretty well through 5 games.

Edit: not referring to you, just in general.

He is a lot better this year then previous years. Ok, he had a bad game against the PATs, but he is on the field playing instead of... on the sidelined injured. Just a speed bump at this point...the kid is having a nice year and will bounce back.

I dont understand! Wasnt this supposed to be our 10 mil. dollar per year corner who single handedly shut the two best receivers in the NFL in Odell Beckham and Julio Jones down?

Yeah, he could help himself if he stopped sucking so much.

Face it Mo is what he is. DEPTH. Not a starter, not a nickel. DEPTH. He's too injury prone and simply not good enough to be a reliable starting corner in the NFL.

heh I warned everyone not to jump on his
bandwagon too quickly. I was told I didn't know what I was talking about. :muttley:

IMO they get a closer to realistic assessment on the DL and OL than any of the other positions.

Wiffed on the tackle before half time which lead directly to three points.

I agree. His performance in the first 4 games was very good. His technique and athleticism has been excellent and he's better at diagnosing plays. I prefer harder hitters at corner, but I can live with 1 Claiborne type who performs well in coverage and is serviceable as a tackler. Unfortunately, Carr is only serviceable as a tackler (and sometimes worse than Claiborne) and isn't nearly the cover guy that Claiborne has been this season.

I don't have a problem with the play where he got 'juked.' He really just slipped. It happens. Saw it happen to Richard Sherman a couple of weeks ago. His play recognition was more off in the Patriots game which was more disconcerting.

At this point, I think if we were to re-sign him at a decent price that would be a big coupe for us. Get Scrandrick back and then we'll have Jones, Patmon (who has been very good this year) and White. We can look to get move Wilcox to SS or find a more athletic SS and keep Wilcox at FS and it would probably be more favorable for us cap-wise.

I posted in here before the Pats game that Claiborne would not be able to handle Edelman. Edelman is no joke.

Umm, the last thing I love is to see the Cowboys fail. What I do love to see fail is Cowboy fans that lack logical reasoning.

Mo is a very good player. Certainly a better player than many posters who criticize him.
He has done a very good job against the top guy on the opposing side most weeks.

The trip and fall was an epic fail; but it was one play.
But he also drew an offensive PI and allowed only 3 other catches all day. Like the rest of the defense it was a tale of two halves for Mo.

Pick plays work against Dallas because our best coverage is tight man.
And our safeties just become blockers for the offense.
We don't switch or pass guys off.

Anyone who thinks Mo has been bad in 2015 has no idea how to watch a football game.

It's probably the same group who think Hayden is awful.

If Dallas thought Mo was playing poorly they wouldn't keep asking him to man cover the other team's top guy week in and week out.

He's been pretty good so far aside from a bad play here or there. If he had held onto those two picks earlier in the year, I bet we'd all feel better.

of the "80 yards after catch," how many came on that ONE Edelman play?
Claiborne has not been that bad this year.

One bad play. He's still fine and is surely due an int. I hope.

Actually, it was 4 plays. Did you read? They targeted him 4 times, for an average of 30 yards. He also had another hands to the face or holding penalty that extended a drive.
