Claiborne is taking too much heat today

I see he is taking a little bit too much heat today.

Those first 2 big plays he gave up were on Will Allen just to make that clear. It wasn't Claiborne's fault on either play.


Also this scheme does not fit Morris at all. If we could trade him for a first rounder I would do it.

He is going to have to be physical against the run and I just can't see this guy staying healthy. He is a man cover corner.

His job was to funnel him inside. Not to man cover him.

On the deep route his job was to make a play on anything underneath. Will Allen had the deep coverage but didn't know the call.


I really like Jeff Heath. I think he can cover and he is smart. At some point this year I expect him to play.

Heath's problems right now though are that he can't defend the run very well.

Will Allen or someone should have called a timeout on the snap where Allen didn't know the defense....just a horrible gaffe. Other than that, I didn't think he was as bad as some folks are indicating. Did see Wilcox out there some though so it would be nice if he developed quickly.

I was yelling for a timeout there. Not only Allen but most of the defense wasn't ready for the snap. Lee had his back turned and Ware was looking around. I think they assumed the giants weren't gonna snap before the two minute warning

I am not at all worried about Claiborne's coverage. The guy didn't play at all this preseason, so I expected a lot of rust.

My issue is that I just don't think he's a cover 2 corner. Those guys need to make and take a lot of hits, and I just don't think he can hold up. He's got the frame of a cover corner, and that's why we brought him in, now we're asking him to do a lot of things he just isn't physically built to do. It's gonna be tough for him to stay healthy this year, in my opinion.

I realize it was probably a blown coverage but man ... just totally unimpressed by a guy we traded up into the top 10 to get. Deon was electric from day 1 when entered the league. Mo isn't even close to that and this is year 2.

My issue is that I just don't think he's a cover 2 corner.

He's not and we're going to have to hear fans moaning about him just as bad if not worse as they did with Newman but it's really not his fault.

He just isn't a fit here. He's a heck of a cover guy but he won't hold up in this defense. I still expect him to make some nice plays but overall he will underwhelm and won't look like he was the best defender in a draft and worth a 1st and 2nd rounder.

I disagree, he was a 1st round pick.. he needs to more of a playmaker...That's what we drafted him for...Where we drafted him, its not good enough

It's your right to feel that way but imo you're being stubborn if you don't take all things into account. This scheme just doesn't fit him.

That doesn't mean that he can't break on a ball and make a play but he is at his best covering man to man. Not looking into the backfield and tackling.
