How the heck does Jerome Bettis make it in, especially when players more deserving than he didn't?

And Don Coryell being snubbed again is ludicrous.

Bettis can be lumped in with Swann. The the Steeler love extends far beyond the officials.

Sixth all-time in rushing yards (at 3.9 yards per carry) with a Super Bowl ring.

He's a compiler like Drew Bledsoe (who has a Super Bowl ring) and Vinny Testeverde.
And Bettis didn't do anything spectacular in that Super Bowl. He was forgettable, except for that whole narrative about him returning home to end his career.

Never watched Jerome Bettis and thought he was a HOFer, not even close....Extremly underwhelming inductee while so many more deserving players are left out again, what a bunch of *** kissers, (that goes both ways) between the media and the Steelers

He gets in as one of the lifetime achievement guys... kinda like Curtin Martin, Andre Reed, Chris Carter, heck even Tim Brown.

Guys who played very well for a long long time but never were mistaken for being the best or even top 2-3 at their position while they were playing.

Yep. Although Bettis is higher in rushing than either Bledsoe or Testaverde, and Bledsoe got his ring as a backup without playing a snap in that game.

He got in for 2 reasons.
1. He was a good not great player for a long time.
2. The voting panel consists of a large number of Steelers fanboys.

cant believe this one.

Warner will get in but not on the first ballot was a late bloomer who no one ever heard of until he was 28 years old. Doesn't have the numbers to get in on the first ballot he ranks 34th on the all-time career passing list.

Considering his disdain for the 9ers organization (at least he used to hate them after his departure) I'm going Cowboys, but you never know.

Edit: saw Adam's post so..................Neither! :p

Whatever distain he had for the organization was apparently put to rest because he spent his final 2 seasons with the Niners.

Then i wonder who will introduce him. Haley seems like the type of guy who would say ill introduce myself. crazy guy

Well it better not be George Seifert, Eddie Debartolo or anyone associated with the Niners or Jerry might have a crew at Cowboys stadium the next day to have Haley's name removed from the Cowboys ROH. lol

Curtis Martin was easily top 5 all time for me. Each person has their own opinion.

Correction: It's "disdain" better clear that up before someone else does. :D

I would take Brown and Carter out of that group, but yes.

If you were picking teams on a playground, would you choose Martin over Terrell Davis?

There were so many great receivers in the nineties it's a little unfair. But I would draw the line under Brown. Rice, Sharpe (not in), Irvin, Carter, Brown, Red Line. Reed should be below it.
