I'm pretty sure this was one of those things said during a commercial break. So he wasn't trying to trash Bobby to the world... It was just the guys talking among themselves while they waited for the show to start again.

I hope he wasn't trying and i am prettya sure he wasn't. He is just very naive i think.

I like Bennett as a player. He shows talent and i don't like to lose that because of his personality. He is a funny guy for sure but he has to learn some more things about humor and being a team guy.

I just wish he would mature a little faster and until then keep his teeth closed.

I did not say that i like Carpenter or have symapthy for him. I just don't like the way he gets treated because he doesn't deserve it. I would speak the same way fo any other person not because i am a Carpenter homer. In fact i am not i hope he gets cut too because i think this teamm can easliy find a better player at his position.

But why do i think he doesn't deserve to get treated like that ?
Because he is a human like everybody else. Because the fun is taken out of perspective. Because i think people make fun out of him not because he is a bad player. But because he didn't pan out for us and people just need someone to let their frustrations go. Frustration because their own life isn't always the way they'd like it. And Carpenter is a nice find nowadays.

You are right "Making fun of people is not the end of the world." but it's the start of the end of culture and ethic. And i don't like to let that happen. And using weasel words like "get tougher" just to distance yourself from your responsibility for your actions doesn't speak alot for character. But character is what it takes to take responibility for your own weaknesess.

Don't get me wrong i don't say never make a joke about someone. Some humor is good and tasty. If it's made with the kind of respect a human deserves. This thread (and all the others i read the last months) have the tendency to lose that kind of humor. The only reason they have is to humble Carpenter and that's NOT ok. That has nothing to do with getting tougher.

You must hate the TO threads on this board, then.

Sure on this board there is a rule that everybody can post their opinion. And that's good. But that board has also a standard. It's a good board just because the discussions here are based on good arguments and not just blind emotional postings sorely missing any kind of logic.

I'd also like to have this board maintaining it's standard and not let it reprobate in this kind of way.

Bashing players has been "the in thing" for a while now on this board, especially T.O. and Romo. I rarely even open those threads anymore because its the same gibberish every time and it got really old really quick. So I would say that the standard was lowered a long time ago. I still like this board because its the best Cowboys board available but if you really feel that way then you need to learn to take the good with the bad.

I really find it incredible that everybody here is ok with one of our players dissing another one of our players (and for better or worse, he is one of ours for now) in public like that. The fact that Carpenter sucks is beside the point. You'd think that Bennett would start to get it by now. Yes he's talented. Just think how insufferable he'll be when he gets a bigger contract. If I was Phillips, I'd play that video to Carpenter to motivate him and then I'd reprimand Bennett in front of the whole team, make him accountable for stupid s**t like this (of course Wade would never do that.)

Martellus Bennett has natural talent. He also has a lot of potential to be a very good football player. But he's nothing more than a talented punk. He's been that way since high school. I don't understand why so many people are in love with his persona. Basically he's just a jack ***, and I agree that he's just going to become more of a problem when he gets a fat contract under his belt. I would love to see him change and mature, but this whole thing with him protesting his fine for clearly breaking team rules (rap video wearing Cowboys helmet) shows that the guy still doesn't get it.

I would be protesting it too. That's a lot of money.

The guy is a beast and is going to be a great player for us. The fact that he calls out a crappy player says he has a little pride about his play too, IMO.
