Like many have said, it just depends on what he was gambling on, but i have a hard time believing even the stupendously stupid Pac is dumb enough to gamble on football last Sept. in the midst of being in deep trouble.

I'm all for giving this guy and/or anyone the benefit of the doubt esp given this is his livelihood. But I am starting to wonder if it is possible to overestimate his ability to make poor decisions.

this isn't something that just happened, it was from last September.....I think that it would pretty much be the end of him if it had just happened, but this happened last year befor he had his "revelation'. I don't think it will affect his current situation one way or another.

But there are just too many changing agendas going on with the league right now to know for sure.

I mean there was a time that the Cowboy coaches would start the off season with their annual trip out to Las Vegas and 'bond' and Jerry Jones was the tour director and they were not visiting the local hospitals and visiting the newborn baby wards to hold babies and take publicity photos.

They were down at the crap tables and eating from the free buffets in the Casinos.

The fact that PacMan did some gambling and ran up a debt is nothing illegal. And only in Las Vegas is defaulting on a payment a criminal charge.

And the fact that his suspension in 2007 then suspended his contract and cut his money supply would have a huge baring on things as well.

And the fact that normally this is a civil matter about an outstanding debt and not a criminal matter as it is in Vegas shouldn't enter into things either.

So if this is the case..does that mean that if a player defaults on his Visa/AMEX /Mastercard payments..does this mean he also gets suspended by Goodell..?

I have to tell you, if this keeps up..PacMan needs to find himself a really good lawyer and just sue the NFL and it's conduct policies as invasive and damaging and forget about football and just collect a huge settlement over how this is all being done.

Pacman is no angel. We all know that. And he has done some very stupid things. But the NFL has become a huge contradiction under Goodell and their selective enforcement of issues.

To continue to bang away at guys like Pacman and others over their behavior that only affected their personal lives and then let Belecheat and the Pats continue to be able to walk from stealing signals and blatant breaking of league rules for team conduct by cheating is ridiculous.

It's obvious that the owners are now going to opt out of the CBA and they have underlined the important role anticipated that the commish is going to play in the coming negotiations and knowing that, they are not going to be willing to soften the stance of Goodell about these issues so as not to appear that the owners and the league are not strong and united in caring out their agendas.

So this is just not going to change.

I don't see Pacman being allowed to play until the beginning of the season at this point with all the unknown things still to be resolved with Pacman with the problems with the accused shooter out in Las Vegas and the apparent payment of hush money Pacman made to him.

Until this gets resolved yes or no as to Pacman's involvement with that shooting, he will not be allowed to return to football.

This could go on for another year.

We'll see.

It's pretty simple: Adam Jones is nothing more than a bonus. You plan to play without him and whatever -- if anything -- we get from him this season is gravy.

It's obvious that a player can't gamble on football while they're playing, but I don't see how there could be an issue even if he was gambling on football when he was suspended for a year. It's not like his gambling could have an impact on the outcome of a game since he was suspended. I guess the Commish could still hammer him if this is the case, but I don't think it would be warranted.
