6. So much for Daniel Snyder not being a big player in free agency. The Commanders signed middle linebacker London Fletcher-Baker and cornerback Fred Smoot to five-year deals. They are talking to cornerback Travis Fisher. Offensive lineman Leonard Davis is deciding between the Cowboys and Commanders. Davis pulled an interesting move. He asked Jerry Jones for a massive amount of guarantees in his contract. When he didn't get them, he left for Snyder's private plane and a trip to Washington. Don't you get the feeling he's going to end up with the Commanders?

After signing Fletcher and Smoot, what's the Commanders' cap situation look like? Can't be good.

it doesnt matter...if you want somebody you can always redo contracts to free up dough...also I read on their forum that they redid Chris Samuels contract today and freed up 3mils or so

That would be good for us in two ways...1) He wouldn't be a cowboy and 2) he'd be a Commander.

he's younger, healthier and bigger, but technically he probably isnt anywhere near the player Rivera was...

but I think if we sign Davis its as a replacement for Columbo...

I believe he told the Washington Post that Dallas wanted him as a guard.

Rivera will never be healthy. At this point, I wouldn't mind getting someone off the street to play for Rivera. Hes just too old and injured to get it done.

Davis would be an upgrade at RG.

That's not saying much.

Well if Davis wanted a huge amount of guarantees from Jerry, you would think he'd want the same thing from Snyder and if it involves huge guaranteed money that probably won't help their cap situation.

dont understand the fuss over this guy,he has under achieved ever since he was a #2 pick in the draft. Lazy comes to mind. I thought we are trying to get better up front. I say draft grubb, and resign columbo

The jist of this is that Davis didn't want a 5 year 25-30 mill deal with the standard 10 mill or so in bonus -- he wants nearly the entire deal in bonus money.

The real issue here is that Davis will be 29 when the season starts - this will be his only big free agent payday. A guy like Dockery got what is basically a 5 year deal -- he'll be hitting the market again at 32. Davis won't get that opportunity.

I like Grubb alot...wouldnt be opposed to Blalock either, just not where we draft in round one

I hope we keep Columbo, but not at ANY price...if its reasonable then definitely
