LIONS VS. COWBOYS
Rogers' old team, Detroit, is 3-0 and looking sharp on offense. Does that mean Saturday's game was good practice for the explosive Cowboys?
"I don't think you can compare Detroit with the Cowboys," Davis said. "The Cowboys have been successful for a while.
"The Cowboys have great talent and great players. They're a lot like our offense. Both teams have weapons everywhere.
"Our own offense compares more to Dallas than any other game we played in the preseason."
What if the Browns can't pull their act together for a few weeks? What if the Cowboys and Steelers leave them with an 0-2 record.
"It's a long season," Davis said. "We definitely want to win and get out on a great note, but ... you learn from each game ... one at a time.
"I think this preseason has been good for us."
Was Davis aware the 2007 Giants were 0-2 on their way to the Super Bowl?
"Yeah," Davis said. "I did. It's crazy. If you can get into the dance, anything can happen. Anything."
"Anything" almost did happen the only time Davis was in the playoffs. The 2002 Browns were within one routine catch of beating the Steelers after sneaking in at 9-7.
Everyone agrees this is the most talented team on which Davis has played. Everyone senses an uneasiness over the injuries and the disjointed preseason play.
"We are very confident, man," Davis said. "We don't have major injuries, guys out for the season.
"We have guys who ... if the game was tomorrow, they could line up and play. But it's the preseason, so why risk it?
"I see these guys every day. If the season was on the line, they could go. They'll be back. Hopefully next week."
