Thats his stat line. You know what the sad thing is? He'll probably make the probowl.

Thats because the Pro Bowl is more a name-recognition/popularity contents than anything else . . .

ha.....

He's lucky he has those stats.......he's faced 8-9 in the box all year........no defensive cord. in the NFL is scared of Brunell. He can't throw deep, and he can't throw short passes accurately either. Today for the forth time this year finished the game under 100 yards passing. He had about 50......

don't discredit portis with brunny under center........

Right now Portis is third in the NFC in rushing yards and is on pace to break 1600 yards this season. Considering our 30th ranked passing game is taking no pressure off him, that's pretty impressive.

no way....?!?!?....who is worse than Brunell??????

Believe it or not, Chicago and Baltimore are both worse. Of course, they don't have Clinton Portis to throw TD passes for them like we do. :D

 Nice to see my clinton bashing thread has turned into a Commander celebration!I look at YPC and TDs as my main focus on rbs. That awful passing game has helped portis in a sence that he gets more carries.

true true...

Portis does have the most carries because the QB sucks BUT I think if he wouldn't suck so bad that portis would have less carries BUT more yards. For the record most GOOD nfl backs have about 5 less carries a game than him.....although priest holmes is right up there with portis, so is curtis martin......If holmes wouldn't have hurt himselff that game he would have more and KC has a sick passing attack.......As for the touchdowns....LOL......Brunell couldn't drive us to the redzone......and portis can only do so much for the first 80 yards......

Either way, we're talking over your skins bashing thread, and filling it with love
:D

Ah, so you must think Bryan Westbrook's a perrenial pro-bowler. :p

I do agree that Portis's lack of TDs could hurt his chances. However, I would think that the fact that Portis has gotten so many carries would help him, as it shows he's shouldering more of the load for his offense than any other back. And his 4.0 ypc (after this week) isn't terrible.

Look at LT's numbers last year, when the chargers had little to no passing game.

It changed this year because the passing game is better.

But I think LT is the better back between the two and has done, better with no supporting talent (last year) around him.

Clinton has done pretty good in his role this year, but no way has he played up to being one of,if not the, highest paid RBs in the NFL.

Oh, you're impressed by that?? Does his 3.9 yards per carry average impress you too??

Does it impress you as much as his 5.5 yards per carry average in his two seasons with the Broncos??

Gee, I wonder what's making the difference?? It couldn't possibly be the play of the offensive line, could it?? Back in Denver, he had a GOOD line, something which can't be said for the team he's currently running for...

I have no doubt that LT is underpaid, but for the record, the Chargers' passing game last year was FAR more productive than ours is this year.

The Chargers in 2003 passed for 3226 yards, 21 TDs and 19 INTs.
The Commanders are on pace for 2466 yards, 18 TDs and 16 INTs.

I don't think people realize just how much our passing game sucks this year. :)

Ah, I see the resident self-proclaimed Champion of Smack has entered the fray. :)

I am in no way argueing that the Commanders OL is close to as good as Denver's. But then again, if Portis surpasses the single-season yardage he rushed for in Denver with a far inferior OL, wouldn't that be something to factor in his favor?

No OL. No QB. Breaks a team record for rushing yards. Surpasses his pro-bowl season's rushing yardage ... wouldn't those be GOOD things?

I think some of you are confusing our defense of Portis with a defense of the Commander offense. Nothing could be further from the truth. He's the only good thing we've got going on offense right now. And while I wouldn't say he's a lock for the pro-bowl, I wouldn't be suprised if he at least got consideration.

Henry I'm gonna disagree with you......

We have a better line on paper than the broncos but because they've played together for years and they have the infamous CUT BLOCK scheme they're playing better now.......
