St. Louis Rams (0-3) at Dallas Cowboys (3-0)
Many amazing things about this young season. The fact that Marc Bulger has two touchdown passes in his first 109 passes is very high on that list.
Cowboys 30, Rams 24
Houston Texans (2-1) at Atlanta Falcons (0-3)
Falcons want the Michael Vick nightmare to recede into the memory banks in Atlanta. Not so fast. Former Vick protege Matt Schaub comes to town and puts three touchdown passes on the board, opening the scab again.
Texans 26, Falcons 16
New York Jets (1-2) at Buffalo Bills (0-3)
Football is a merciless game. Some how, some way you'd love to see the injury-ravaged Bills get a break. But when you're 32nd in total offense and 32nd in total defense, as the Bills are, there's no place to go but down.
Jets 31, Bills 13
Baltimore Ravens (2-1) at Cleveland Browns (1-2)
Ray Lewis, meet your old pal Jamal. And take my word for it:, some of Jamal's comments about the holes in Cleveland being bigger than the holes he ever had in Baltimore are in the minds of many Ravens.
Ravens 16, Browns 14
Chicago Bears (1-2) at Detroit Lions (2-1)
Speaking of amazing things from the first month of the season, nothing would top the Bears starting 1-3. I don't trust them at all on offense, and the only way they win this game is to play clockball, shortening the game with 31 Cedric Benson carries. And I think Shaun Rogers, in a game he'll be up for, won't let that happen.
Lions 23, Bears 17
Oakland Raiders (1-2) at Miami Dolphins (0-3)
Hey Rob Ryan: Whatever happened to that great defense of yours? This is a game your guys need to win.
Raiders 13, Dolphins 9
Green Bay Packers (3-0) at Minnesota Vikings (1-2)
The Marino-beater comes on a 42-yarder to Donald Driver midway through the second quarter, and, in a reversal of the normal Favrian celebration, Driver picks him up and carries him all over the field. Anxious to hear what comes on the Metrodome message board immediately thereafter.
Packers 17, Vikings 10
Seattle Seahawks (2-1) at San Francisco 49ers (2-1)
Count me among those who think the 49ers are pretty good, but not good enough yet to win this division. To get there, they need Alex Smith to win a shootout with Matt Hasselbeck, which will happen here only if the embittered Darrell Jackson comes up big.
Seahawks 23, 49ers 21
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-1) at Carolina Panthers (2-1)
I love it when great pass-rushers who have no sacks through three games -- Julius Peppers, in this case -- say sacks are overrated and come in bunches and it's all about pressure. When great pass-rushers make gazillions because they lead the league in sacks, I never hear them demean the importance of sacks, do you?
Panthers 19, Buccaneers 16
Denver Broncos (2-1) at Indianapolis Colts (3-0)
Jay Cutler's got a bum ankle, but it wouldn't matter if he were fit in this one. Peyton Manning owns the Broncos.
Colts 27, Broncos 16
Pittsburgh Steelers (3-0) at Arizona Cardinals (1-2)
The Whisenhunt-Grimm Bowl comes down to the final seconds. Fittingly, Ben Roethlisberger, who always wanted to air it out more under the previous regime, wins it with a touchdown pass in the final minute.
Steelers 21, Cardinals 20
Kansas City Chiefs (1-2) at San Diego Chargers (1-2)
Two things I'm fairly sure of as a seasoned NFL observer: LaDainian Tomlinson is not washed up, number one. (Breaking news! King says Tomlinson will rise from the dead!) Two: The Kansas City win last week portends nothing for the future except that the Chiefs won't go winless.
Chargers 33, Chiefs 3
Philadelphia Eagles (1-2) at New York Giants (1-2)
Amidst all the McNabb-mania and The Coughlin Watch this weekend, here's what will be lost: Eli Manning is securing his spot as the Giants quarterback for the next few years with solid if unspectacular play.
Eagles 28, Giants 23
New England Patriots (3-0) at Cincinnati Bengals (1-2)
What is more likely -- the Patriots scoring 38 points every game this season or the Bengals rising up to smite the best team in football? I say the former.
Patriots 38, Bengals 16
