Rams | Candidate list down to three
Mon, 16 Jan 2006 06:24:03 -0800
Jim Thomas, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, reports the St. Louis Rams have narrowed their head coaching candidate list to three names. They are Miami Dolphins offensive coordinator Scott Linehan, San Diego Chargers offensive coordinator Cam Cameron and the third candidate is said to be Chicago Bears defensive coordinator Ron Rivera. The Rams will now conduct a second round of interviews with the three remaining candidates. The second round of interviews will take place quickly, and the Rams are expected to have the new coach in place by the end of the week. The team is no longer willing to wait on Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt, now that the Steelers have advanced in the NFL playoffs. Based on the first round of interviews, Linehan appears to be the front-runner, but Rivera isn't thought to be far behind, even though the Chicago defense had an off day against the Panthers Sunday, Jan. 15.

I think Sherman + Lienhart would be a pretty good combo for New Orleans.

From this though it sounds like Zimmer is back for sure and Payton will likely return as well. I think it's more important to have Payton back, even though I like Zimmer. Without Payton the offense would completely stagnate.
