This is pretty neat playbook software, apparently quite a few NFL and College teams use it or have used it, the Cowboys don't seem to be one of them. As far as technology is concerned it seems to be a pretty simple MS Access VBA application.

You can draw passing routes, blocking scheme, and other assignments, display offensive formations or plays against a combination of defensive fronts and coverages. It creates and prints the playbook, wristbands, and scripts plays. I am pretty sure many teams have there own proprietary systems, but I thought this one was interesting considering its on the public market and available to anyone.

One peculiar thing that stood out to me for some reason was the suggestively hawt narration voice on the demos.

I think the X and Y recievers need to run tighter routes. They look a little sloppy...LOL.

How many Wills are on the field at the same time? Also, What the heck is a C? It can't be a corner he is lining up at the Mike spot? Two defensive ends on the same side? The D/W looks like a head NG, which should be playing a 1 tech.

For that matter, why is the ROT running a go route? :)

Perhaps its a running play? The RT is going downfield to block at the second level and the WR's are trying to seal seams for the RB on the trap..

It looks like a 3-3-5 defensive alignment with a weird setup to confuse the offense. It might work if the defense didn't leave the X receiver uncovered. I guess the offense isn't allow to audible to a pass.

I use Powerpoint or equivalent. Can even animate the footwork, which is especially useful if your WR routes are based on steps and not yards.

uhh... that would make you 100% WRONG!!!

I was looking for something else on the web and came across that site by pure accident, never heard of it before and have no affiliation with it, but I thought tools used by NFL teams might be interesting to some of the more cerebral folks (critical thinkers) on this forum. Everyone had 25 post at one point? I am not sure how that makes them evil just because of it. I am not endorsing it or selling anything, in fact DON'T BUY IT!... ok, I was just trying to make people aware of it and have conversation LIKE EVERYONE ELSE HERE, isnt that what we do? exchange ideas??

Thanks Bob for the encouragement.

I always wondered what tools teams used to prepare their playbooks, keep their stats, and track player training with. I guess back in the day it was probably hand drawings on graph paper and copying machines. As I mentioned initially this one doesn't seem too technically sophisticated, it looks like a simple VB app over an MS Access database. I actually hope that Jason Garrett has something much more sophisticated than this. The Cowboys have always led in technical innovations (witness the new stadium) so I am sure Jerry gets them the best tools possible. I know they were one of the first teams to use computers in recruiting and drafting players.

Why is the Z sitting on his butt doing nothing? Is that Stanback with another injury standing out there for a blocking dummy? Why does the entire right side of the offensive line vacate to let the DE's to blow up the play from the outset?

I wouldn't mind the software, or something similar to it, but I'm not going to drop $300 for something to play with.

There used to be a PC football game back in 1993-1994 or so that would let you draw up your own offensive and defensive plays from scratch. You could play USFL teams against NFL. I played a lot as the San Antonio Gunslingers while my bud with the computer was always the Cowboys.

Are there any modern football games that allow you to draw up your own plays?

madden used to let you make your own plays, but they left that and a lot of other great features out.

They let you customize everything in the create a team mode and then only give you like 12 colors to use for uniforms?
