Randall Cobb reportedly wants $9 million per year

I'd be running up to him with a check immediately and would be telling Dez thanks, and good luck. Heck, with the savings you could now sign Murray if you wanted to. I probably wouldn't, unless he's willing to settle for 4mill per, but the team might think otherwise.

Cobb would give us more of a deep threat along with being able to play multiple positions.

Worst case Dez gets tagged for the year at 12.7m, but if Cobb gets 9m that paints Dez' demands in a new light

It will be interesting to see what the market supports this year. The huge money contracts, at least for awhile, are done I suspect. I don't think we are going to see a lot of CJ contracts in the near future. Could be wrong but I don't think so. It's just not good business.

Tagging him would kill our chances of getting anyone worth a dang on defense unless we restructure every contract we can. I don't want to do that.

Restructures are harmless with guys like Romo, TSmith and Witten. They aren't going anywhere. It's better to have the cap space and not need it, then to need it and not have it. Any un-used space can always be rolled over to 2016.

Cobb is not Dez Bryant. He's also featured in a pass happy offense with the leagues best QB.

Are you saying that he couldn't put up the numbers he did this year with our QB? And he wasn't "featured" in Green Bay. Jordy Nelson would be that guy.

Packers FA wide receivers have been pretty pedestrian after leaving the packers. Granted, alot of them were older than Cobb when they left. I like the added dimension Cobb adds by lining up in the back field though.

I'm not seeing the point osf tagging Dez for 13 mil. Why not sign him long term and pay him 13 mil the first year??

Fans always talk about the risk for the player, but teams have a lot of risk as well. With a salary cap you can't have too many bad contracts. Tagging Dez is not their first choice, but it gives them one more year with no long term risk.

There's no debate here... Cobb would not put up the same numbers on the Cowboys roster. And I had Cobb on my fantasy football team this past season and I'd call him a featured WR with the consistent points he gave me.

Cobb's issue is that while he is the #1 slot WR in the NFL at this point, other good slots WRs like Julian Edelman are signing contracts for much lesser numbers. Edelman signed in 2014 for 4y/$17m or $4.25m.

The one thing Cobb has going for him is I suspect some teams view him a straight-up top notch WR2 -- in other words not just a slot WR.

Dez's skillset is much much wider than Cobb's, however, it's hard to argue with Cobb's production.

So you're saying that Romo isn't good enough to get him the ball like Rodgers did?

Cobb has 1 year under his belt. GB's system is receiver friendly. From Jennings, Jones, Finley to Nelson, Cobb and quite possibly Devante Adams. Cobb would be a sub 1k yard receiver in Dallas.

Besides, the only 5'10 receiver i'd pay in this league is Antonio Brown.

Seriously guys? Randall Cobb over Dez? This is a joke. Cobb is not even on the same level as Bryant im sorry, he was in an offense where he was the number 2 receiver. He wouldnt even demand double coverage here, so hey, lets stack the box and stop the cowboys offense is essentially what would happen. Cobb doesnt scare me if im a d-coordinator, dez on the other hand, you gameplan against

Define skillset. Dez is more physically imposing, but still limited in the routes he runs. Cobb is faster, is a diverse route runner, can play any position.

Of course I'm not saying that. The Cowboys are a run first team now... less passing plays. It's the system that would hurt Cobb's numbers.

Straight up talent wise, give me Dez. But give me Cobb at 9mill over Dez and some crazy CJ type contract or even a franchised Dez.
