My first impression was that it was an asterisk representing the AFC color (red) vs the Cowboys logo (NFC color blue). It turns out they're more like stars rather than asterisks. That's too bad, but at least it allows for easy photoshopping in the event of a Patriots* win.

I agree. My favorite is the Super Bowl XXVII logo. I think it is neat how Pasadena SB logos have a rose somewhere in them. The worst logo ever had to be the one for Super Bowl XXXII. It was terrible

That logo was circulating before the end of last years Super Bowl. I was shocked to see it so early. I used it in a video I made almost a year ago. The SB 43 logo should be in circulation in a few weeks, that is if last year wasn't an exception.

I implied in the video there would be a rematch in 2008 with the Cowboys and the Colts. I'm still hoping thats the case. Then I could do an extended version of version one.

We should start coming up with logos for Super Bowl 45. I'm sure you photoshop gurus could come up with something great. Wonder how they go about designing these things? They should have some kind of contest where the winner gets tickets to the game.

This one was probably done by someones grandson. That someone is most likely in upper management at the NFL's corporate headquarters. Otherwise I don't think it would have made it past quality control.

As a designer myself, i know that you can come up with 10 designs and the client will always pick the worst one! It looks like a simple design and might have been what the NFL wanted. Also easier to reproduce on merchandise.
