NFL's hottest rumor.

Is there a schred of truth to this?

He can retire, but if he leaves this team high and dry, I will hunt him down!

Detroit? Doesn't make a lot of sense.

On the other hand, don't expect BP to leave in a way that is best for the franchise....he's left teams high and dry before...I'm expecting he'll do it again.

They said last night on Total Access that there was a rumor about BP to Detroit. Same rumor that was around weeks ago. Still smells like bull.

Another rebuilding job that's just as bad if not worse than the Cowboys were when he first arrived.

I hope he comes back here, but u never know... I think it's a wasted effort trying to determine what he will or won't do.

He also gave out a disclaimer-most of these time, these Parcells-going to other teams rumors turn out to be moot.

hey if he wants to go let him go, it will cost them a first round pick or two since he is already under contract.

not worried about this one. I mean, Parcells is still under contract. He ain't going anywhere else without us being compensated.

of that i can agree. : ) i understand why people do, but all others are doing are simply guessing. detroit? maybe more $ would be his motivation. face it, at his age not too many multi-million $$$ a year jobs are going to present itself. millen needs to hire a strong person and parcells *would* fit that job.

wanna see some speculation? if bp does go to detroit, will bledsoe follow? : )

Schefter elaborated on this on NFL Total Access yesterday, when Eisen asked him what the "craziest" story he'd heard all day on "Black Monday" was. Schefter emphasized that although he still thought it was the longest of longshots, it was a story that multiple people kept mentioning to him throughout the day and that it just wouldn't die.

Yeah-he'll probably take a year off before he goes there-that way, the Lions will get him for free.

And to add... John Clayton on his blog mentioned Russ Grimm the OL coach for Pitt as tops on Millen's HC list.

More on searches: Steelers offensive line coach Russ Grimm is going to be a big player in the Detroit Lions' search once it begins. Interim coach Dick Jauron isn't expected to be retained. Grimm has always been a favorite of Lions president Matt Millen; some people think Grimm is the leading candidate. The Packers made contact with the Steelers and plan to interview Grimm over the weekend.

Jim Haslett's phone wasn't quiet Monday after he was fired by the Saints. The Lions are expected to set up an interview for later this week, possibly as early as Thursday. Haslett should hear something from the Lions on Tuesday. Haslett left the Saints with one year remaining on his contract at $3.2 million.

I would be surprised but I'll tell you, Detriot isn't in as bad a position as we were. They have a lot of talent on that team right now.

And to add to that...BP's expertise is rebuilding defenses.

BP and Bledsoe to Detroit...1 or 2 1st rounders to us.

Heck, he's supposed to leave in 2007 anyway. Why not.
