Maybe we need a thread specifically for documenting egregiously absurd statements about the Cowboys by the media, for plenty of entertainment(or outrage, if that's your thing) material condensed into one thread. Recently a Nate Davis referred to Gregory as being drafted "Despite a checkered past". 1 failed pot test.

Here's a new one:

man, from the title i thought this was going to get political. :)

i've got enough to do w/o adding marking down all the stupid things the press says these days.

I think Archer is right. All those players were key contributors, but all that means is that they played a lot of minutes. The Cowboys could feature 20 third-graders as their defensive squad and there would be "key contributors" among them too. Does that mean we don't want to replace the whole lot?

PK is 100% right about Carter, though.

I am still trying to understand why people still care about anything related to bspn...

It might be more helpful if this board had a stickied thread about the ridiculous predictions from years past.

It has about as much entertainment value.

I stopped watching ESPN 10-11 years ago. Unless Dallas is playing on Monday night or there is some big breaking news story, I never watch that channel.

I don't either. In fact, I'm always surprised when any of my football-smart friends admit that they do watch ESPN. I sort of thought everybody just understood that it was sensational and not really for informational purposes.

I have to say, though, I'm enjoying the stories about them circling the drain.

This board has been refreshingly devoid of that and I wouldn't dream of changing it.

i like those discussions but yea, they get out of hand quick and i don't miss having them here. plenty of places for that these days. hell, fb alone is about politics, dinner and cats.

my dog isn't happy about that.

Maybe his athleticism but as a player he was too inconsistent, he was outplayed consistency wise by a mid round rookie.

Consistency is everything in the NFL. 9 times out of 10 coaches will go with the lesser talent where a player's level of effort and consistency is a known quantity from game to game vs a better talent who's consistency and effort is all over the place.

Bruce Carter didn't totally fit the classic NFL cliche "Looks like Tarzan but play like Jane", however, "Looks like Tarzan, sometimes plays like Jane" is probably a good fit...

Now that I think about I do like most of their 30 for 30 specials for the most part. But other than that, I stay away because I feel they don't report the news but instead create the news.

Most of my Cowboys news come from this message board to be honest. It's a great one stop shop for everything Cowboys related.

Technically they can say they're correct because they were key contributors to a 19th rated defense.

Articles and publications like these can be written by any lazy homer who finds some guys he might have seen on TV getting cut and being replaced with players he doesn't know. The strategy in writing that stuff matches the local fans' mindset -- they love to hear or see in print the same thoughts that they have, since it validates their opinions.

The problem is this is a national medium source, and homerism and lazy journalism have no place there.

It's the age of "say and print anything", without proper editing, references, or fact checking.

It all started with Cosell, so I'll blame him.
