Is he?

I thought Collins struggled pass blocking at LG last year. Obviously run blocking is his strength.

What have you seen in his game so far that makes you think he’ll be better than Free right out of the gate?

Personally, I think it’s going to be a bit of a work in progress. I do think he has the <potential> to be very good at RT in the long run.

We let Leary go and kept LC. Sorry but, Leary was better and LC has really never impressed me except in downfield pancakes. His RT technique leaves a lot to be desired.

Unreal anyone thought he was going to step in and dominate at RT - I don't think he will EVER be great at RT. I would much prefer him back at LG where his ceiling is higher.
this was my same thoughts over the offeason when moving Collins to RT was one of the hot topics.

He struggled with pass protection while playing between the best Left Tackle and Center in the game. Don't see how this is a surprise now that hes on the edge with faster pass rushers. Give him some time to learn. Doubt he will ever be a dominant pass protector though. Wish Green was reliable so Collins could still be at guard.

New RT, new LG, Ty Smith having back issues, and no Zeke...not good.

Lets see. Outside of a few practices Collins has not been at Tackle since he got here as a rookie. Now certain gomers here are screaming he is not all pro after less than three weeks.

Short arms- PAGING JOE THOMAS

Left handed- meh.

I see a young and very talented guy working through his issues and getting steadily better. As I made clear to me he is ALREADY doing better than Free did last year. So its a net plus now no matter what. And he will get better.

Oh and by the way I think the record shows that when Broaddus makes a recommendation its wise to do THE EXACT OPPOSITE.

RT in pass pro is not a huge deal with a right handed QB. Romo used to tell Free not to hold his guy but let him go b/c Tony could see him and step up or roll out if need be. Dak is more athletic and mobile than Tony-- therefore, even if Collins struggles a bit, I am not super worried.

LG and swing tackle are bigger issues IMO.

I've never believed in weakening one position to strengthen another. He looks made to be a road grading OG in the NFL. They should have left him where he was and just used more chip blocks and delay routes with the TE to help on the right side.

That said, it's way too early to draw any conclusions. It would be fantastic if the change was seamless, but this is a completely different job. I am actually worried Martin is going to spend to much time trying to bail Collins out and his play is going to slip, which will cause Freebeards to slip as well.

I think they'll be fine though, especially once Zeke is back.

I'm not sure what some of you are looking at...i didn't see every one of his snaps but he was dominating the guy in front of him for most of the time he was in there.
