DWI could mean something other than drinking if the I in DWI stands for Influenced and not Intoxicated. Be interesting to see what happens after the lawyers and Goodell gets involved.

DUI and DWI are generally synonymous; different states just have different terms for the same offense: operating a vehicle while under the influence of some illegal substance, whether it's drugs or alcohol.

"Intoxication" can be defined (and usually is) by statute to include controlled substances or illegal drugs.

Kravitz: Jim Irsay fighting for his life, needs help

n a twisted way, Jim Irsay's friends have been praying for this day. They've been praying for the day when he'd reach rock bottom and be forced to come to terms with a drug problem that he's battled for some time.

"He's a sick, sick man,'' one source told me. "He desperately needs help.''

Yep. That is gist of what I mentioned as well. Most states changed out Intoxicated for Influenced to broaden the net so to speak.

Probably something like that. My guess is indefinite suspension. Going to be a lot of pressure on him to sell the team, too.

If they're not going to make the Browns owner sell after being indicted in some sort of corruption scheme. Or the Vikes owner after losing a 21 year old lawsuit, then they're not going to make Irsay sell. Suspension and big fine, but selling the team? Nah.

I do not think the other owners would ask him to sell the franchise. Way too much of a good ol' boys club for them to turn their back on him.

I dunno, WG...I feel like substance abuse is a little different.

If he doesn't sell, expect him/his presence to become a distant memory.

It is different. A person(Haslam) defrauding hundreds to thousands of people out of their money is much worse than someone(Irsay) with substance abuse issues. Of course Haslem hasn't been indicted just yet. It will be interesting to see what happens when he is.

Right. With Haslam I think it's a lot worse because of the financial implications it could have.

Didn't he basically buy the Browns on a loan?

Xannie "bars" probably, maybe even Diazepam (anti-anxiety drug used for alcohol w/drawl) Either way highly addictive and hope he gets help.

Wouldn't be my first guess. He could likely get a script for a benzo by claiming anxiety and I'm just guessing he doesn't have a script because that's where the felonies are probably coming from.

I would really be shocked if it wasn't oxy.

That stuff is outta control.

I'm sure the $100000 fine and the suspension from the owners box for six games is really gonna hurt!

I doubt they will do anything that Irsay doesn't agree to. Precdent for other owners with peccadillos would be just too dangerous.

Agree on the oxy problem in general. I was just going off the schedule IV classification; Oxy is schedule II, etc.

I call it. Year long suspension from the NFL.
But how exactly do you suspend an owner? I mean, he can always pull the strings from behind closed doors. He's still the owner so, unlike a player getting suspended, he still makes money while on suspension.

Jim Irsay drove me around-Will Wolford Blind Side deal.Good guy who wanted to do right-win big. Loyal to his dad when called the Devil.
#JimmyIrsay driving me around. Waiting. Blind Side contract. NFL hold up. Thought to my self: Who raised this guy? Bob?? Just decent-nice.
Bob Irsay never came close to being Owner of #JimmyIrsay. Every Owner should empathize w/ Jimmy IF they were around w/ Big Bob. Mean drunk.
Indebted to Big Bob Irsay. Best stories. I broke Cardinal rule: Got drunk w him. Erickson trade/contract. Did it nxt AM. Always toast him.

This guy is an agent/former player.

Team executives have been suspended before. He can mess around behind the scenes or whatever but not being, in the building, league functions and meetings, and games is a big thing. Plus he'll be in rehab
