Yeah, it sucks, the Cowboys lost a wildcard playoff game in heartbreaking fashion. But it isn't nearly as bad as:
* Losing the 1966 NFL championship (the game before Super Bowl I)
* Losing the 1967 NFL championship (aka 'the Ice Bowl')
* Losing the 1971 Super Bowl (aka 'the Blooper Bowl')
* Losing the 1976 Super Bowl (aka 'Swan miracle')
* Losing the 1979 Super Bowl (aka 'The Drop')
* Losing the 1981 NFC championship
* Losing the 1982 NFC championship (aka 'The Catch')
* Losing the 1983 NFC championship
Now I had always known that the Cowboys were a successful team back then (winning two SBs in the 70s), but I had absolutely no clue that they had lost so many big games. It would've been difficult being a fan back then. They won their share of games, but it would've been devastating to see those very good teams lose NFC championships and Super Bowls over and over again, especially in the early 80s.
How close is this team to 10 Super Bowl wins? Not sure that makes anyone feel better, just an interesting piece of Cowboys history.
