Come on this loss wasn't nearly as bad as those 60s, 70s, and 80s losses....

Yeah, it sucks, the Cowboys lost a wildcard playoff game in heartbreaking fashion. But it isn't nearly as bad as:

* Losing the 1966 NFL championship (the game before Super Bowl I)
* Losing the 1967 NFL championship (aka 'the Ice Bowl')
* Losing the 1971 Super Bowl (aka 'the Blooper Bowl')
* Losing the 1976 Super Bowl (aka 'Swan miracle')
* Losing the 1979 Super Bowl (aka 'The Drop')
* Losing the 1981 NFC championship
* Losing the 1982 NFC championship (aka 'The Catch')
* Losing the 1983 NFC championship

Now I had always known that the Cowboys were a successful team back then (winning two SBs in the 70s), but I had absolutely no clue that they had lost so many big games. It would've been difficult being a fan back then. They won their share of games, but it would've been devastating to see those very good teams lose NFC championships and Super Bowls over and over again, especially in the early 80s.

How close is this team to 10 Super Bowl wins? Not sure that makes anyone feel better, just an interesting piece of Cowboys history. :)

Those 3 losses still haunt me to this day.....I remember those so vividly becuase it was 3 straight years of that....I remember throwing things out of my room etc.

The other ones were tough as well...but 3 straight years of that...argh!

Imagine being a Buffalo Bill fan in the 90's..........

It hurts more because we were not beaten- we lost it. We had it and LOST it. Though the way this season was going, Seattle would have marched downthe field and Brown kicks another.

In the end it doesn't matter - this team has as many holes to fill now than it did when Bill got here.

He's done a terrible job.

They won their share of games

...and thats the difference.

This team is 1 game over .500 two years in a row, and just a few years removed from 3 straight 5-11 seasons.

Personally, I put this on Jerry Jones and BP. BP 'cause this team was totally unprepared again. Had they been playing NO or Philly we would have lost by 30 or more. We gave up 330+ yards to a team with their top two receivers with pretty bad injuruies, and couldn't score more than one TD with 1 CB off the streets just days before, and missing their two top CBs, and we can't even cover with everyone healthy. This is the most healthy team I can ever recall, it won't happen next year.

Jerruh because of all the huge draft misses, not just Moss and Merriman either.

This loss was nowhere near as bad as the early 80's losses.

Why? We expected to win those games back then. The players heart was in it.

I had no expectations from this uninspired group of characters from top to bottom.

I will take Ware over Merriman any day. He does a lot more then just rush the passer; Merriman is a one trick pony who also will get himself suspended again with roids. If he stays off of them we will see next year just how much difference they made. It takes up to 6 months for all the effects to go away.
