Welcome to the minority Schotty. The Cowboys have said in the past that the first step towards taking the best player available on the board when they pick is acquiring players in free agency. Schottenheimer believes the Cowboys' did "a hell of a job" with their free agency haul.
He was talking about everybody including J. Williams, Pickens, and Gary.Welcome to the minority Schotty.
Same.First off, im suprised I actually like this coach so far. I really thought it was the most garbage lazy hire possible. Hes brought in what seems to be a great staff and I think players will play hard for him. Schotty seems to be a good ceo type of coach. This will be a make or break year for him.
As far as the draft goes I'm glad hes involved while simultaneously cringing because weve had coaches selections go really bad in the past.
I feel pretty good about our defensive additions. The biggest difference would be adding a LB. I think if we did that we could get a couple impact players in round 1 and probably have 6 or 7 new starters.Same.
This year is massive for him. Can the offense take a step forward in the Red Zone and pass protection?
I like the hiring process for DC. That said, so much success in 2026 is tied to the D at least becoming a midling unit.
The FO has failed to add any clear difference makers via FA so they aren’t doing him any favors.
I like Thompson the most. Durant and Locke are solid additions.I feel pretty good about our defensive additions. The biggest difference would be adding a LB. I think if we did that we could get a couple impact players in round 1 and probably have 6 or 7 new starters.
Of course they over promised and under delivered. I think Gary will be solid though. I agree you shouldn't count on rookies to contribute, but I also believe first round picks should typically start and contribute right out of the gate.I like Thompson the most. Durant and Locke are solid additions.
But we have no pass rush. Gary is a rotational piece. As you pointed out, there is a gigantic hole at LBer as well.
Counting on rookies to contribute as key starters is a mistake. This was the year to “bust the budget” but they have done nothing of the kind
I think we need to contextualize Gary.Of course they over promised and under delivered. I think Gary will be solid though. I agree you shouldn't count on rookies to contribute, but I also believe first round picks should typically start and contribute right out of the gate.
I wonder how much people's opinions change about Gary if we bring back Clowney or add a first round pass rusher?I think we need to contextualize Gary.
He is just a 1-1, system dependent replacement for Clowney. He's a pretty good player but he doesn't really move the needle for what this defense can be.
