Aside from the obvious fact that we're still in the Super Bowl hunt now versus in 2009 playoff victory over the Eagles, what is the major difference, particularly as it relates to Romo - and if you want to expand it, the Cowboys?

It seems as if many (not just Cowboys fans but non-Cowboys fans) are celebrating as if Tony Romo won his first playoff game. Obviously, that's not the case.

So what makes this win different than that win. Or, for those of you who remember it, what were your feelings like after the 2009 Eagles win compared to your feelings now?

Romos composure in the game. Not pressing throws. Still wish he would throw the ball away some times and not take sacks but he has matured a great deal.

I can put my hate for the Eagles aside and appreciate this playoff win against the Lions even more.

I agree.

btw, in the Lion game, at least two of those sacks would have been grounding if he threw it away b/c he was in the pocket.
He did say he could improve on a couple of those though. He's definitely doing more of what Aaron Rodgers does in that case lately. Just take the sack and live for another down.

going into green bay after blowing out the lions would result in a disaster methinks.

the lions game was a dog fight that we pulled out. i love our chances next week.

Agreed. Beating the Lions made the Cowboys a better team. The Boys are as formidable a foe as the Packers could have faced in Lambeau for the divisional playoff round.

That seems to be an issue of not having short routes available when the defense is blitzing.

I didn't notice this year's team celebrating to the same degree as the '09 team. That concerned me at the time.

Also, I just can't see this team coming out flat, especially in the trenches. For all the flack the OL is getting, a lot of those hits/sacks were either blitz pickup issues or coverage sacks. I thought they actually played better than they're getting credit for, especially considering the opponent.

Depends on where he throws them. Ten feet over a receiver's head and out of bounds isn't grounding. However, if he wasn't sure he could get enough on the throw with all the traffic around him to be sure it would go oob, he was right to take the sack.

The only really bad one was the second Suh sack, where things broke down and then he turned his back on the receivers and ran backwards, only to take the sack several yards further back. That was...unwise.

I was confident that the Boys would take care of the Eagles without too much difficulty. They just had the Eagles number that year. The Lions match up had me a lot more worried. They were a difficult draw for us, and had the strengths to counter the Boys own strengths. I was expecting a dogfight of a game and that's what it became. Of course I am very happy we won, and feel that this current team has a mental toughness and grit to it that the playoff teams of Phillips lacked. This team doesn't lie down when things aren't going well. This team FIGHTS. And it's this fight, that is probably my favorite quality about it.

My delight in a win against the Eagles is slightly more childish than it is in a win against the Lions. :starspin::thumbup::starspin:

We survived our toughest matchup for our offense.

We were due to cool off after a month of 40 burgers. We cooled off for a half and now its full speed ahead.

Bailey will not miss another FG until sometime next season.

This team is playing with house money now.

Green Bay couldn't be facing us at a worse time. They will get our best

This one is much bigger as we had just got through playing the Iggles the week before.

Plus Stafford is much better then Donoduck!

My only complaint about this win is that I don't think there is an iconic GIF like the McNabb air guitar before the start of that Eagles game.

Otherwise, the Eagles game seemed to be in the bag. We just beat them 24-0 and then quickly jumped on top by the start of the second quarter in that game. The Lions game was a real thriller against a much better opponent.

This is a much younger and hungrier team. I think they play with a different mentality than the 2009 team which was pretty good but veteran-laden and full of guys with major entitlement complexes.

After the Eagles playoff win in the 09 season I was very confident, boarderline cocky (probably more cocky) that we would beat the Vikings. We were coming in hot after knocking off previoiusly undefeated 13-0 Saints, and pitching back to back shutouts over Philly.

This year, I'm not that confident that we'll beat Green Bay at their house.
