Instead of comparing Brown to Ramsey, lets compare Brown to Hargreaves who is more of a pure CB...
Hargreaves having trouble adjusting to NFL?
Where would you redraft Brown and Hargreaves?

Hargreaves is supposed to have excellent instincts in coverage, but both are supposed to provide sticky coverage.
Physical traits wise, Brown and Hargreaves seem to be evenly matched.
Brown is significantly faster but Hargreaves is significantly more agile.
Hargreaves is also more explosive though less than Ramsey, but Brown is slightly longer and taller.
Ramsey is clearly a better physical specimen than Hargreaves.

Hargreaves is rated as 10-15 pick.
Average size but quick twitch, smooth and able to provide sticky coverage with exception instincts and ball skills.
Physical but could get injured being too physical.
Definitely projected as CB who can man or zone.

Brown is rated as having physical talent but needs to work on technique
Pros include quick feet, strong, looks over shoulder comfortably, recovery ability and sticky coverage
Brown gave up 17 TDs at Purdue, so results did not match talent
Seen as potential starter in the late 3rd/4th round.
Definite CB but may be better in zone.

What's with the comparisons? How about we enjoy the game today?

Brown has played well as the #3 CB. He's been a pleasant surprise as a 6th round draft pick.

I'm not sure what more you want to hear ??? That he's better than Deion Sanders??

I really liked Hargreaves in the draft. He's a ball hawk, so I'm a little surprised he hasn't gotten a pick yet. His fluidity and ball skills at the combine had more finesse than the WRs. Haven't been watching his games, though.

Me either, lol.
I just read Hargreaves is not doing well, but no idea why...
Brown seems to be doing well, but I am not sure how often he gets #1 WR like he did with Pittsburgh.

CBs tend to have a very steep learning curve in the NFL

Anthony Brown CB/S Purdue

STRENGTHS
Anthony is an excellent athlete with good football instincts and intelligence. He has the size and athletic ability to play more than one position in your defensive backfield at a very high level. He shows leadership skills through his play on the field and is a playmaker, intercepting the ball and adding yardage to the play. He has hands as good as many of the wide receivers in the draft class; his workouts showed his ability to catch the ball as well as his ability to adjust to the ball in the air and make the tough catch. Anthony has quick feet and comes up quickly to support the run and make an open field tackle. He is excellent in zone coverage and does a solid job in man-to-man coverage also. Anthony is a playmaker and you can’t have enough playmakers playing the corner back position or for that matter playing any position on both sides of the ball.

CONCERNS
Anthony will need more repetitions playing man-to-man coverage but as soon as he gets those repetitions he should improve and maybe not become a shutdown corner, but become a core player and a fan favorite and an impact corner for the team that selects him. He does miss some tackles at times, so he will have to clean that up. If he gets moved to the safety position, his ball hawk skills will be obvious.

TALENT BOARD ROUND: 2
Anthony has those long arms that give him a big defensive radius and because of that radius, can be used inside or outside and also as a cover safety. Add to that his talents to be used as a slot receiver on the other side of the ball and top that with his special teams talents as a punt returner and gunner on the coverage units and I think you can all see what I’m talking about. A multi-talented defensive back with the ability to play more than one position and who can make plays at those positions. Now let’s add to that his work out numbers and the fact that he did both defensive back and receiver workouts at the combine. Then, add to all of that, his game film that shows impact play after impact play in both zone and single coverage and as a gunner on the special team units. So I’m grading Anthony as a zone defensive back with developmental single coverage skills who can catch a ball like a receiver with film to back up his potential talent. For me I have to grade Anthony as a player I would like to select sometime in the 2nd round. At least that’s what I see on his film. Time will tell. Right now as of this writing there is no talk about Anthony at all so I’m not sure what round he could be selected in. Most of the time players like Anthony don’t get selected until the 3rd, 4th or 5th rounds but in this draft who knows where he will be selected?

*****************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************

Vernon Hargreaves CB Florida

STRENGTHS
Vernon is a quick-twitch corner with excellent strength and talent. He is a ball hawk and shows on film excellent hands to catch the ball for the interception. Vernon has the natural ability to adjust to the ball when it’s in the air in coverage and the vertical leap to high point and fight for the ball against those tall receivers. He is a solid tackler which, along with his ball skills, will allow the team that drafts him to use him at any defensive back position in zone or single coverage. Vernon likes the challenge of single coverage on the best receiver of his opponent’s team. He has excellent quick feet and can flip his hips and stay with just about any receiver he is up against at the college level. Vernon has the upper body strength to be used in tight bump and run coverages. He is smart and knows where the first round markers are all the time as he’ll come up very quickly to make the sure tackle and stop bigger receivers from gaining extra yardage and making the first down. Vernon’s ability to catch the ball and adjust in the air to make plays sets him apart from most corners in a draft. This, along with his quick twitch and coverage talent, should make most teams think that Vernon is a top defensive back for the next level.

CONCERNS
Vernon is not as tall as most teams are looking for in a cornerback, but because of his vertical leap and ability to adjust to the ball in the air in single coverage as well as his receiver like hands, I believe the height concerns are nullified. However, for me personally, he has to clean up and become a more consistent FORM tackler. With his lack of size, if he is not a form tackler at the next level, he will become a liability. Head up, wrap up, squeeze and drive ALL of the time and not just some of the time.

TALENT BOARD ROUND: 1
For the purpose of this draft, Vernon might be downgraded because of his lack of size and length but that doesn’t mean anything once he makes an NFL team. This kid will impact because of his very unique receiver-like ability to intercept the ball. Being able to adjust to the ball in the air like a receiver and high point the ball while in coverage is the same type of mental and physical talent a mother needs to be able to multi-task taking care of the entire family (logistics and all) on a airplane trip to an amusement park for a one week vacation. Vernon can shut down those small, quick, fast receivers and against those bigger ones? All I can say is that your quarterback had better be accurate or you’ll be trying to tackle Vernon after he picks one (or more) off. Using Vernon in zone coverage as a safety will be possible because he is a good tackler in most cases. Using him only on passing downs this way will allow for his ball hawking skills to impact. He is excellent at reading routes and anticipating where quarterbacks will throw the ball when he is used as a free safety in those situations. I’m not suggesting you move him to safety -- I’m just saying don’t be afraid to move him around your defensive back field to take advantage of all of his talents to intercept the ball. It will be to his -- and your team’s -- advantage. You might even think about using him as a receiver in certain situation as he has that type of talent.
