I am concerned about the WR position with our Cowboys folks. WR Glenn (health), WR Johnson (age/speed), WR Morgan (hands/lack of), Crayton (exp only) etc......but, here is a link that might be worth consideration from Cinn Beagles.

Link: http://www.daytondailynews.com/sports/content/sports/bengals/daily/0627bigcweb.html

They may cut WR Peter Warrick and if they do, I feel we should consider him. He is quick, and can take a short pass to the house. I would love to have him as a 3rd down WR. He has played on the big stage at Florida St and won the National Championship.

Is anyone else concerned about our WR? Or am I over reacting and we are in great shape? Make me feel better folks!

You're not over reacting. It will be one of our top focuses of the 2006 off season, if not sooner.

I agree on maybe adding Warrick. BUt we haven't seen any of the practices or anything, so we can't judge how Crayton, Copper and Morgan are doing. I think the status on Morgan's injury and the developement of the 2 young guys plays a large role.

I like your observation on how he played on one of the biggest college stages at FSU, and won the National Championship, however, he's been in the pro's long enough where his college performance means nothing anymore really.

i think morgan and crayton and quite possibly tom crowder could make a little noise this year. all we can do is hope glenn and key make it through the year unscathed. i would have no problem with warrick being a cowboy.....he's multitalented.

I agree, and thats really the only weakness (Besides Bledsoe) that i am real worried about with this team right now. But, look at SD and KC last year. Two of the best offenses in the league, and what did they both have in common? Thats right, great running games and excellent pass catching TEs. I think this team will score enough points to stay in every game, and the addition of ATrain and Barber will assure that this team can run the ball 30-40 times a game.

Oh, and apparently theyre taking a good look at Roscoe Crosby. Havent seen a thread on this kid yet, but he's a talent, but been out of football for a few years. Id easily give up a 6th in 06 to get this guy in the Supp draft. He may not be ready to play for 2 years, but why not get a good talent a year early for a late pick.

No doubt about it, our WR core is iffy. And we can only hope Glenn and Key and even Morgan can stay healthy. Heck, we hope the same for Julius Jones, and Dan Campbell as well. Injuries are a part of the game. You have to have some luck there.

But Hostile is right, in 2006, our first pick could very well go to a WR. And look no further than next year in free agency. You might see Dallas pick up an up and coming, but seasoned vet at WR.

I wasn't concerned the first eight thousand nine hundred and sixty second time someone asked that, but gee, CC, it's starting to sink in that we're doomed.

Why just today on this very board I read that that Terry Glenn "lacks the stones" to stay healthy. (he went on IR for the same foot injury Dan Campbell went out on a few weeks before, but I don't see Dan's manhood being questioned)

I've also read recently that Key is on his last legs, Morgan has the receiver IQ of Randal Williams, and Crowder can't possibly make it at wideout. Hopes are high for Crayton but he and Copper are proabbly nothing more than semi-legitimate fourth receivers. Ditto the latest crop of undrafted free agent camp fodder.

And in case you're figuring Witten will pick up the slack again, forget it. There's no way we can re-sign him.

We were chumps to let AB get away.

We could've targeted Burress in the offseason, but let the Jints nab him.

Then there's the poor projected wideout draft class of 06 on the horizon.

Don't think about Mike Irvin coming out of retirement; he's too busy posing for pics with our posters or flirting with their girlfriends.

Johnnie Morton just signed yesterday, Crazy..I think with the 9ers. And even Freddie Mitchell got another job. Warrick, well, he's coming off a pretty serious injury.

I suppose Dedric Ward is out there somewhere, tho.

Feel better now?

You are correct Billy Bullocks, college performance means nothing anymore. Quincy Morgan at Kansas St was awesome during games and I thought he would dominate at the next level. But, I am still waiting on him.

We are thin at WR. If our starters stay healthy we are golden!

I'd love to see Peerless Price as our #3.....

I think the recievers will be ok.
When we won the 3 Superbowls in the 90's we Had Irvin , Harper and that was about it. I understand our top 2 are in there 30's ,but its football and a guy in his 20's can go out and get hurt for the year just as much as a guy in his 30's. Its a violent sport .
Also we seem to be very strong in the running game and tight ends ,so Tuna will feed off our strengths.
I believe If we put a great defense and a ball control Offense (just keep moving the chains) We will be in great shape.
My #1 concern is whether these Defensive guys we drafted can make an impact.

Peerless Price is a great #2 or #3 WR. I watched him a lot in 2002.

His issue in Atlanta is Vick's arm and the tag as #1.

His salary is cheap this year! Been down that road before posting that.

LaTuna, no....you did not make me feel any better--sorry. However, when I look at the history of JJ signing our star players. I am not one bit concerned with losing Witten! We will sign Witten and you can put it in the bank!

I was trying to make you LAUGH, CC.

Oh well. :p:

But look, sometimes the area of depth you're most worried about is lucky enough to witness the least attrition. And the spots you think you're loaded at...they start dropping like flies.

Ya never know..so let's just keep our fingers crossed. :)

Like I said, recapturing past magic....

His salary is cheap this year, but high every year after that. No wonder Atlanta is thinking of ditching him.

I agree on Vick being a big part of his problem and that Price isn't a number 1. He actually would make a nice #3, but not at the salaries he has.

I expect he gets cut next year and stays in Atlanta this year.

LaTuna, you got me..........I am LAUGHING now.......but since I am done laughing, I am back to being concerned about our wideouts. But, you are right about keeping our fingers crossed! Thanks

Our WR situation isn't all peaches and cream. It isn't in the gutter either. At this point I honestly don't think Warrick would be considered an upgrade. Price would if he plays like he did in Buffalo. I think we get through this year with what we have then address the situation big time next off season. Who knows, Morgan, Copper or Crayton could take the next big step and help solve the problem some.
