Cowboys finish 10-6. Lose to the Skins and beat the Eagles.

Eagles clinched a spot Sunday. If the Cowboys and Giants both finish 10-6 then the Giants get in.

Why would the Eagles get in over the Cowboys if they have the same record and the Cowboys won the head to head match up?

I'm confused about the whole situation.

I'm basically under the impression we need to win 1 of our next 2, and have the Giants lose 1 game and we're in.

Or win out and we're division champs, and then if Minny loses out we're the 2nd seed.

that would make it a 3 way tie in which the tie breaker is no longer head to head. it would go to divisional record with giants at 4-2, eagles 4-2 and dallas 3-3

TO BREAK A TIE WITHIN A DIVISION

If, at the end of the regular season, two or more clubs in the same division finish with identical won-lost-tied percentages, the following steps will be taken until a champion is determined.
Two Clubs

1. Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games between the clubs).
2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division.
3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games.
4. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
5. Strength of victory.
6. Strength of schedule.
7. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
8. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.
9. Best net points in common games.
10. Best net points in all games.
11. Best net touchdowns in all games.
12. Coin toss

Three or More Clubs

(Note: If two clubs remain tied after third or other clubs are eliminated during any step, tie breaker reverts to step 1 of the two-club format).

1. Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games among the clubs).
12. Coin toss

The Eagles would have to lose to Denver first for this to come into play.

If all 3 teams were to finish 10-6, with Dallas beating the Eagles, then it goes to the 3 team tie breaker rules. First is the record against each other. Each team would be 2-2 having swept one team while being swept by another. Next would be division record. NY and Philly would be 4-2 and Dallas, with a loss to Washington would be 3-3. Dallas would be eliminated right then and there. Then Philly would win the division over NY due to the tie breaker, and NY would get the wild card.

dang, so that means if we lose to the skins, beat the eagles, then eagles dont really have to play us, and the eagles still win by getting into the playoffs with the giants while we would lose

that stinks with us having beaten the eagles twice this year if we do

They do that, and they are playing for the division crown at home. Nothing the Giants, Eagles or Packers do matters right now.

That's why we better win out or hope the Giants lose, or GB loses out.

Who we're rooting for this week:

Carolina
Chicago
Seattle
Den/Phi...(This could go either way, just depends on what happens with the other games).
And St. Louis (just in case).

it does but that's what we get for not beating the giants and putting them out of the playoff hunt when we had the chance. we don't give up a last second fg in the stadium opener or we put a down giants team away a couple weeks ago and all of this is mute and we are already in the playoffs just fighting for seeding. we have nobody to blame but ourselves. but at least we still control where we go. just win and nothing else matters.

Not sure who to root for in the Denver Philly game. It doesn't really matter to us if Philly wins next week or not, win the next two and we are division champs. However, if Philly loses to Denver and MN wins against Chicago, Mn no longer has incentive to play starters against NYG. Or something like that. :lmao2:

If Minn turns in another dud like they did vs Carolina they may play the starters instead of going into post season playing pooly as they have of late.
