I know there was a stretch where he was injured and we didn't want him to take too many shots. But even before the injury and after the brace came off it seemed like Garrett was intent on letting Barber have 2/3rds of the carries.
When you put Felix in the game, everyone knows about his ability to take one in for a TD. They are going to hesitate on overload blitzes that we struggle blocking. It's going to hold the LBs even longer on the freeze draw. It is going to make the safeties cheat up a bit in case they need to help out. All these adjustments the defense has to make will make it easier for Romo and his receivers to find open space and make plays.
The other thing I love is how deadly Felix is on screens and passes out into the flat. It is a shame we haven't done this more yet. We should try to get him 15 carries and 5 receptions a game. I definitely don't want to overuse him to the tune of 20-25 carries a game (and the odd 30 carry game) like we did with Emmitt but there is no excuse to only get him the ball 5-10 times a game.
Make the defense respect Felix's presence - they have to account for him. The whole offense will reach another level once we straighten out the #2 WR position and fully integrate Felix and Choice.
Barber needs to be the odd man out. There is nothing that he does that Felix or Choice can't do. I think we need to move on. I really hope that this wasn't just Garrett resting Barber for the Vikings.
