Wife and I considering a move to Houston so she can be closer to her brother and housing cost is much much cheaper than up here in northeast. Plus did I mention not fan of northeast winters any longer. My idea location would have been somewhere outside of Dallas but I have to make some concessions for my wife. Atleast it gets me into state of texas. I can work on convincing my wife and brother that Dallas area is better :). Enough rambling about all that. My real question is: can I see Cowboy games on tv from Houston area?

Don't do it!

You can see the Dallas games there as long as they don't play at the same time while the Texans are at home. At most, you would miss two games on local TV.

If you must head to Texas, really consider the Austin/SA area......especially the hill country around Austin. If you have never experienced a Houston summer........be prepared for pure h*ll. It is real hot, real humid, rains often(which extrapolates the humidity) and it is really, really hot!

There is no terrain, just flat. The biggest hill/mountain that you will see is a freeway overpass, heh. The Spring is nice but that won't last long, usually goes from coldish to just hot :(

Outside of Houston it's known as the armpit of Texas. Weather is horrible, it smells, people everywhere, traffic sucks and the worst sports fans in the country.

As was mentioned, at most you might only miss two games. Majority of Texans games are noon. Very rare when they get prime time games.

Your only issue as a cowboy fan is wanting to buy Cowboys stuff. There's slim pickings here.

Other than that, I'm going to ignore all the hate for my city that's been posted. Houston heat is what it is. However, if you travel anywhere in Texas during the summer, there's a good chance you'll experience the same heat. If you're not picky about area and need recommendations on school districts, I can help.

Good luck!

http://www.gallup.com/poll/168008/houston-leads-metro-areas-job-creation-index.aspx

"Not only do we have the largest medical center in the US, but with 21 hospitals, eight academic and research institutions, and 50 related organizations, we have the largest medical center in the ENTIRE WORLD. "

"It’s hard to compete with a city that hosts over eight million people and 72 Fortune 500 Companies, but thanks to our Energy Corridor, Houston hosts a solid 26 Fortune 500 companies – well ahead of Dallas’s pathetic 19 and DC’s measly 20. "

"
The energy industry and burgeoning trade with Latin America are powering the Third Coast, combined with a relatively low cost, business-friendly climate. By 2023 its capital — Houston — will be widely acknowledged as America’s next great global city. Many other cities across the Gulf, including New Orleans and Corpus Christi, are also major energy hubs. The Third Coast has a concentration of energy jobs five times the national rate, and those jobs have an average annual salary of $100,000, according to EMSI.

As the area gets wealthier, The Third Coast’s economy will continue to diversify. Houston, which is now the country’s most racially and ethnically diverse metro area, according to a recent Rice study, is home to the world’s largest medical center and has dethroned New York City as the nation’s leading exporter. "

Anyone hating on houston, is probably just jealous. Because the facts from outsider is, its the best city in America.
