Conspiracy Theory on Reeves

Reeves announces he wants to get back into coaching, gets at least one offer we know of to be OC and turns that down. His name apparently had surfaced in one or two other cities as well.

Reports emerge he is leaning towards accepting a "consultant" role with the Cowboys.

DMN reports today that any announcement will not occur until AFTER the Super Bowl. FWST"s Gil Lebreton makes it seem like a done deal that Reeves is coming here.

Things have been awfully quiet at VR since that Philly debacle, and Jones refuses to publicly discuss Wade or Jason Garrett in Mobile last week. Wade refuses to speak at all.

So if Reeves is only coming as a "consultant" or psuedo-GM as some have suggested, why does Jones feel compelled to wait until AFTER the Super Bowl to make it official? It's not an attention grabber or distraction from the Super Bowl, which we know the league doesnt like. Other teams have hired personnel people (ie, Pats w/ Floyd Reese) and asst coaches (multiple teams)

Maybe Reeves isnt coming to be a "consultant" at all. Maybe he's coming to assume the HC job, with Wade moving to DC. And who knows, maybe it was Wade's idea. Wade and Dan have a great working relationship and they really like and respect each other.

OK, maybe its just the fact I've had no caffeine yet, but it all does seem a little strange to me.

It does seem a little strange that Jerry is waiting till after the Superbowl when that goes against his normal routine. And as stated just for a consultant role which would just seem like a thing that would be a ho hum type of announcement even if it is for the cowboys.

It is also strange that he would go from possibly getting an OC job to become a consultant if he wants to get back into coaching.

Now the thing that we don't know about the OC job is if was really offered to him from San Fran.

However with all of that said, I don't know if I will go so far as thinking it means he is going to be the new head coach and wade is going to be the DC. I just don't know if I can go that far in my thinking at this point.

But it is odd.

Here is another conspiracy to consider, and it might be as outlandish. Maybe Jerry is finally learning to keep his yap shut and that bad press is not better than no press at all. With the pac man thing, TO getting a reality show, the irvin reality show, the harping of media and fans and now the Marty B thing...who knows, maybe he just does not want to be in the press much right now. Again completely against his normal routine.

Highly doubtful that would happen. The problem is that you have to conduct multiple interviews for an open head coach postion, you cant just name a guy out of the blue.

I'd rather have Reeves.

I don't dislike Reeves but I'd prefer youth, longevity and stability at the position with someone we can build around for the long term.

Man, I just get more pissed at Jerry every day. IMO, He has no clue what he is doing (although last years draft appears to have gone pretty well) or he is just stubbornly doing it his assinine way regardless of how bad it gets. He let what’s his face go to Miami and sided with TO and let Haley go.

The articles below bring out some interesting things about Haley and these are qualities I think are valuable in a coach:

• His dad was in coaching and integrally involved with the 70’s Steelers
• He studied film as a kid and almost assuredly picked up a bunch being around his dad
• He was hired and worked for Parcells on multiple teams
• He is passionate and intense (maybe too much, but I’d rather have that than the latter)

I’m not even mentioning the job he’s doing in Arizona (because that could be due to a lot of factors that have nothing to do with him), but I think he deserves some measure of credit.

The one issue I have with him is that he grew up a Steeler fan and hated the Cowboys so I don’t know how hard it would be for him to stay with the Cowboys long term and if that would effect his performance.

God I wish they had a strong head coach that expected hard work, discipline, toughness, etc. He doesn’t need to be as extreme as Parcells or Johnson, but the Michelin man is a joke, er,.... I mean cupcake

I disagree.

Jerry Jones was very emphatic about bringing Wade Phillips back before and after the loss to Philadelphia. Also, as many have seen, Jerry Jones has bitterly stated that the "Coaches and Personnell" are in place.

Also, Jerry Jones being mum about certain players and coaches is nothing new. I remember after 2006 Season, there was huge speculation that Terrell Owens might not be back and for a while Jerry Jones was silent on the issue. Eventually, he did an interview with The Musers and got extremely testy with them when they kept asking him about Terrell Owens' status.

Furthermore, you say that hiring Dan Reeves as a Consultant wouldn't be an attention grabber, for most franchises that would be the case but the everything the Dallas Cowboys do receives alot of attention.

Folks just need to come to grips with the fact that the old gang consisting of Wade Phillips, Jason Garrett and Terrell Owens is coming back. Because as Jerry Jones stated, "The Coaches and Personnell are in place".
