Not to be Debbie Downer amidst this incredible 12-2 season, but there continue to be offensive concerns.

Dallas drove for only one TD against Minnesota, one against New York, and one against Tampa Bay in successive weeks.

This offense has to start finishing drives again to win in the playoffs.

Offensive performance last night far exceeded the games in Minnesota and New York - 264 yards, 260 yards, 449 yards. Penalties have been a problem that needs cleaned up but the offense's ability to drive the ball was fine last night.

And was completely unecessary. The threat of jet sweep is one thing but to keep putting ball in Whiteheads hands instead of the guy that was just chewing up TB was startlingly stupid.

I like the jet sweep but it's only going to work once or twice a game max. Yeah the double reverse pitch works great n highschool but this is professional football. I doubt we will see it again. They are concerned about Zekes touches and Dak had a lot of attempts they were trying to spread the workload. We should see more DMc in the coming weeks as he gets more practice time in.

The Cowboys may not have enough margin for error in the playoffs to account for things like Doug Free inexplicably grabbing a DL's facemask when the play has long gone past both.

12 play drives are great, but everyone knows that it increases the possibility of a silly mistake killing a drive. Garrett and Linehan really need to get the ball downfield more. EE and DP have been incredible as rookies, but IMO, Dez Bryant has to earn his ultra-high salary in January if the Cowboys are going to get to the Super Bowl.

That's true. But it doesn't mean there aren't some worries that remain.

Min and NY played press man and forced Dak to beat them deep. Dak struggled.

Tampa played two deep and gave up throws underneath. Dak put up 2nd highest completion percentage ever. We had a plue 4 turnover margin, and still came down to the last possession.

We haven't played our A game in nearly two months, and that bothers me.
2 of those turnovers ended the halves so that stat is misleading. There were only 2 turnovers that we could've capitalized off of.

If..then we can compete? What would you call what they have done so far?

The playoffs are a different animal all together. It's unlikely we will go too far in the playoffs averaging 1.4 passing TDs a game. We had zero last night but this has been a problem all year. If the pass rush continues to improve maybe but unlikely. We need to get that passing TD ratio up.

It's been hit on in the thread.

This offense is devoid of big plays, so penalties and mistakes derail drives.
A 70M WR is supposed to make big plays.

8 for 82 (10.2 avg) is a possession receiver.

Eh, some of those holding calls are so subjective, hard to get too upset with the players. That holding call on Leary was completely bogus. It's the entirely preventable penalties/mishaps that drive me nuts, illegal motion on offense because a guy can't remember the snap count, forgetting to run out of bounds because player is not aware of game clock, fumbling a ball when losing possession immediately ends the game, too many players on the field, etc.

A lot of holding calls are subjective they go for you and against you and we're committing too many which are wiping out nice plays and killing drives. Dak has performed well in manageable downs and distances. Practically every time we get called for holding we end up in a 3rd and 9 to 17. It comes down to being discipline.

Garrett pointed out in one of of his pressers about the penalties that are putting us behind the chains and wiping out good plays. Having that TD called back last night could have cost us the game. Every time we have a nice play you have to hold your breath hoping you don't hear there's a flag on the play.

The announcers are unbiased professional observers of the sport. I value their opinion and comments. One of the best was when they laughed at the notion of a QB controversy in Dallas. That was priceless

Next thing you're going to tell me is that they're all intelligent too.

A valid concern, good lad!

But is this about Dak?

I ask this because I do not recall fans being this analytical during the frustrating years of Sir Romo when he tilted mightedly at windmills and brought us, for all his glory years, 2 career playoff victories in 11 years. Talk about unfinished drives!!!!

In those years of mostly mediocrity, we'd hoist a brew and exclaim in our quaint Texas patois, "A win is a win" except when it wasn't, then we'd assign blame to the secondary, the RBs, the O line, etc.

We have an exceptional O.
And an emerging D.

To ponder its deficiencies bloke, amid a 12-2 year, might seem excessive.
But, lad, thanks for pointing that out. I trust you hoisted one last night?

I hoisted 4!!!! Oh, it was a raucous small party. Daveindallas led the singing of the "Tipperary" song and I danced the hully gully, Manchester style.

We do seem to be held to a much higher standard by the refs than certain other teams (ahem Giants). That's going to be difficult to overcome in the playoffs.

No downer here. You make a very valid point. Give the Bucs some credit, as they forced some of those penalties with their quickness, but that dumb facemask one on Free, & Mayle's poor blocking technique of grabbing outside the frame has to be addressed. You just can't afford to keep shooting yourself in the foot, no matter how good you are.

Successful playoffs teams generally average over 2 passing TD's a game those that didn't and were still successful had better defenses than we do. If the pass rush continues to improve perhaps. I would still like to see that stat improve. Is less than 2 passing down downs going to cut it against Brady? Not likely.

Sssshhhhh! This is not on the agenda for today -- today, it's all about Dak's wonderful completion percentage and how he showed all of Romo's supporters that he is the guy! Ssssshhhh!!! LOL.

You hit the nail on the head! Time to search out all Romo supporters and persecute them accordingly.

How TDs are scored seems meaningless.

Well, good sir - if the teams around Romo played half as well as he did during those years you would not be having 20/20 hindsight vision.

Tony - "Hey Dak, I'd like you to meet Kyle Kosier, Phil Costa and Kevin Kowalski and Montrae Holland, friends of mine from a few years ago."

Dak - "No thanks, Tony I'm good with the friends I have now."

Tony - "Yeah I thought you would be."
