You guys were great in helping me find some errors in the Drafted Players research. So I am asking for your help again. DallasCowboys.com has several errors on their site regarding past rosters, years played, etc. For example, they have Kevin Sweeney's college wrong. Brad Johnson isn't even listed. As much as I would like to pretend he didn't play here, he did, and I want this series to be accurate.

If you spot an error, please post a note or shoot me a PM.

Here are our QBs, their jersey #, college, and years they played here. Current players are in bold. I realize I will have to adjust these with other positions as players get cut this year.

Also, let me know if you want other information added for this series.

I could be wrong but I believe Steve Deberg played for the Cowboys as he is the only person to back-up Staubach, Elway, Montana and another big name I have forgotten..

Sadly, he never played for us. Drafted in 1977. His career began in 1978 with San Fran.

One other thing, Billy Lothridge was primarily a Punter, but like Danny White he was also a QB. He did attempt 9 passes in 1962, completing 2. Danny will be listed twice, but I was torn on listing him as a QB. I was wondering what people think about him being on that list?

okay than what about Bill Musgrave

...PS...I am typing this from a Lung clinic had pnemonia since April that just won't go away...heard you had a bit of a problem with this too... but mine is inside the lung and not on the outside (not ordinary) and they had to remove part of the lympnode in the lung so I could get some air as it kept getting larger...bad stuff

Yeah, I did just get over pneumonia a couple of weeks ago. I was down for over a month. I could not talk at all. I simply ran out of air in mid word. Clear liquids, rest, and anti-biotics. Last week at church someone asked me if I had lost weight. I said I lost 15 pounds. They asked how, I said pneumonia. I am going to keep it off though.

Musgrave never played for us either. We did draft him like DeBerg. He also went to San Fran and got his start there.

HA, I lost around 40-45 but I probably had more to lose...but I too plan on keeping it off it is a lot easier to tie my shoes...

Well if they had to throw a pass as criteria...what about Dan Reeves and Robert Newhouse...

I also believe Mitch Hoopes threw a pass as punter

Reeves, like Lothridge, is listed as a QB.

I am torn on this. Do I also need to list Newman and Deion as WRs since they caught passes?

Add Reeves or remove Lothridge and make it primary positions only? Danny White actually counts as both. Most others do not if I do that.

Well than I do not spot any errors except that I think there is only one "r" in Gary Hogeboom

Primary positions only. Otherwise you will have to make room for Drew Pearson, Jason Witten, Crayton, and other guys who have thrown passes for the Cowboys over the years.

Danny White caught two touchdown passes in his career. There are a lot of things like that.

I trust you and am making that correction. Lothridge was a backup QB, but so has Crayton been even though he has not thrown a pass.

Only 8 guys out of that list were any good at all for us.

I think I would have to include Beuerlein and maybe a couple of other backups who saved us when injuries could have derailed us.

Yeah, let's add him. He was an incredible athlete. Didn't he come out of Georgia Tech. I could look it up but but I'm wondering if I'm getting more senile.

Did Zorn ever play for us at QB? Also didn't we bring a guy named Miller, I think he played for the Steelers at one time? Probably mid 90's or so.

Kosar and Garrett had decent stints, I think. It would be great if we could retire a 3rd QB # over the next 5-8 years (officially or unofficially)!

Zorn did not.

I will have to double check on a QB named Miller.

As I said in the initial post, DC.com has a lot of errors.

Would Rudy Carpenter be part of this list? Like you said, you're listing our current quarterbacks and it may change, but Steve McGee hasn't played yet either.

It just dawned on me that Dan Pastorini was his team's punter, too. What an advantage it must have been for Bum and Tom to play with an extra roster spot all those years.

How about Richard Bartel and Matt Moore? Or is it strictly regular season rosters?
