A few months ago, we showed you some official “spy shots” of the pre-production version of the new Camaro coupe.
To say the least, response to that post was overwhelmingly enthusiastic – something that was extremely gratifying to all of us here at Chevrolet, who have been hard at work testing and retesting the Camaro development models.
As a reward for your interest – and your patience – here’s a sneak peak of the convertible version of the Camaro, which is also undergoing a similar evaluation as we ready it for full production later next year. (Preproduction models shown. Actual production models may vary.)

I don't want a convertible and don't really want t-top. Would rather just put a moon roof in one.

Ooooh those things are so hot. Too bad I will not have the money for one.:(

Junk, plain and simple. What's the price of gasoline now? And next year when it finally comes out? GM will put a huge price tag on it and it won't sell. Toyota and Honda are laughing at their competition from the so-called "Big 3."

LMAO... I assure you if you can afford one of these or the Dodge Challenger then the price of gas is not a major concern... and yeah it will sell...

Speaking of the Challanger there is a dealer in Fredricksburg Va. that just got one in (first dealer I know of) and they are asking 20K over list price of 41500...

They are laughing at the big 3, but not because of the Camaro. The Camaro is essentially a novelty car. It is not intended to be their main product. The niche of people who like Camaros will buy it.

I didn't hear that rumor. I find it hard to believe. I was thinking it would be somewhere between 20 to 30 mpg.

I really like the look of this new camaro. I even like the convertible look, but I would prefer a hard top if I chose to get one. And I probably won't. I will just dream of one.

Most people that buy hot rods keep them in their garage all week, it's not a daily driver. Well most ed-ju-ma-ca-ted folks that is:D

From what I heard early on. It will be set up to switch between a V6 and V8.

So if you get it on the highway and put it on cruise control some how it switches into v6 mode but if you hit the accelerator it kicks into v8.

No one better than GM and the UAW to try to fill a money-losing, gas-guzzling, small niche market for those trying to relive the 70's as private investigator Jim Rockford. Only to find out that the chicks dig the Toyota Prius and MiniCooper.

Just like most Corvettes, the car will sit in the garage and depreciate 10-20% per year. And every once in a while the Camaro and its whopping 500HP will come out and sit in traffic and obey the speed limits just like everyone else. Zoom, Zoom, Zoom,... up to the next traffic light. Wow. That was fun. I think I almost pulled a 1/4G on that last curve. Did you feel the rush? No. But, the patrol car with the flashing lights behind you seems pretty impressed. Time to put the car back into the gerage.

Dude we get it, you don't like it. Here is a thought...don't buy it. See how simple that is.

While most of America that has a hybrid, and I have been giving SERIOUS thought about getting one if I can afford it...there is also a faction of older guys who had a 67-69 camaro or firebird that want some nostalgia over the newer cars. There are some that want a nice new muscle car.

Just because they want it, they pay for it, they suffer at the pump, is not going to hurt you one iota. Don't like it, don't buy it and if you see someone with one you can hoot and holler about how you are getting 40-50 mpg and they are wasting their money. Just as I do when I see a Hillbilly truck with huge tires on it.

But you know what, if they want to buy that truck, put huge tires on it, pay extra at the pump. Let them. It does not hurt me a bit.

i haven't found a single chick who digs the prius or the cooper. To quote Jeff Dunham's Walter "What sound does the prius make when it drives by you? ""iiiiiimmmmm gaaaaaaay"".

Only time my buddies camaros and corvettes and mustangs sit in their garage is when its time to upgrade something or its winter time. Most of the time we are on the high ways, at the strips or the auto-course.

my charger has the 5.7liter Hemi in it and it does this but when cruising it goes from 8 to 4 I get better gas milage in it than we do in the family van...

That might be the same thing. I could not remember so I just guessed at the V-6.

Gm does displacement on demand, v8's go to 4's, 6's to 3s and 4's to 2s (though DoD on I4's was done on maybe 1 or 2 cars. Its pretty nifty.

For themselves, yeah.

As to the OP, I'd get a t-top. They should make a hard-top convertible like the 3-series.

I like them both, and it wouldn't bother me a bit if I dated a guy that had one. It's ridiculous that men still believe women put that much weight on the type of car that a man drives.
