"If I had to compare this year's group, I think Wentz is more talented than either Jameis Winston or Marcus Mariota just in terms of traits. I think Carson Wentz is a high-level traits prospect," Cosell said. If the Eagles were to entertain the notion of acquiring Wentz or Jared Goff, Cosell said that they will both be gone by the time Philadelphia is on the clock with the No. 8 pick. In fact, Cosell said that in talks with Sunday Night Football analyst Cris Collinsworth, there is some in league circles who believe that Wentz and Goff will be selected one and two, respectively. "Goff, I've wavered on, gone back and forth on. The more I've watched him ... I like Jared Goff, but I don't know if I would view him as a top two or three pick in the draft," Cosell said. "Now, that's in an ideal world. Every draft, we know how quarterbacks are viewed."

Not having that second round pick as well as gutting their team hurts the Eagles ability to move up that high IMO. I dont think they make that move. The Rams are a possibility, but even with two 2nds the cost is high to move up. I think it would be those two 2nds and next year's first at least. However they have a decent roster and the lose of picks wont be crippling. I think us and SF are the most likely to move up for a QB if a trade is made

I don't know why people think not having a 2nd this year is such a hurdle for the Eagles to move up. They have two 3rds. They have future picks. I don't see it as anything they can't work around.

The real problem for them to get to 1 is picking at 8. The Titans can probably move to 4 and still get their guy. They can't do that at 8.

I'm surprised you left out Staubach.

I'm even more surprised your Cowboys QB Mt. Rushmore isn't,

Wentz, Wentz, Wentz, Wentz

I strongly considered Meredith and Bledsoe.

They never finished the original Mount Rushmore. That's my plan here too. Start with Wentz and then run out of funds.

I think the biggest hurdle for them is they need those picks more then a team drafting where they are should. The last two years off Kelly combined with the fallout this offseason has left that roster very thin. They look like a team to me right now thats gonna spend the next 2 years in 3 to 5 win country. They are in a spot thats hard to figure for me because 1 ) Do you trade up for your QB and have nothing around him except for Jordan Mathews and Lane Johnson. 2) Do you take that hit and get your guy now so you dont have to worry about it and you dont have to hope Watson and Kelly are legit in 2016.

With us, I pull the trigger easier then if I was an Eagles. Simply because while we have holes, what we need to support a young QB (OL, type flight WR) are there. You kick the WR can down the line but a young QB still has a bell cow in Bryant for the first couple years he is starting. For the Eagles, I think the cost of the pick could possibly effect the production of the pick. Hurts your ability to support that young QB. Extreme example, but If I was am Eagles I would worry about a David Carr situation. But then again, thats based on my opinion of the Eagles short term outlook

That all sounds terribly sensible. Unfortunately, the QB position makes teams and fans insensible. So many times, teams are built backwards and, in the process, a good portion of an elite QBs career is wasted while they try and figure the rest of it out (see Tony Romo). Like I had mentioned in another post: the only way this thing could have fallen more perfect for the Titans would have been if Tunsil was available last year and Marriota was available this year. Some reliable protection may have bought Marriota a few more games and you never know what happens then.

The Eagles may be in love with Wentz but they are either going to get him killed, give him shell shock, or completely stunt his career because of the lack of talent both on the front lines and at the skill positions. You would never convince a GM of any of that because they are completely seduced by "the precious". But it's more often the case of a highly touted QB who ends up being a bust. It's the irony of the draft. Most teams picking high enough to grab a franchise type QB aren't in the position, personnel wise, to maximize his development.

I just question if Roseman will do what Kelly wanted to do last year to get Mariota.

If Wentz falls to #4 he's my pick. I think it would be foolish to trade up to #1 overall though. If that's the route I go I start Wentz day 1, accept 2016 as a rebuilding year and put everyone who's not dez and my o line on the trade block.

Well, at least you admit it ahead of time.

I think that's the case with most people, regardless of who was drafted. They/we might not like the pick, itself, but once they're Cowboys we root like hell for them to succeed.

There is a difference between blasting a player before they get the star on their helmet and then pretending that opinion never existed once it does.

That's fair and true. But I don't think that's what Hardline was saying. I think (and I may be wrong) that he's not big on the idea of drafting Wentz but if/when he's a Cowboy, he's all in. IDK.

Cowboys QB Mount Rushmore...

Wentz, Aikman, Romo, White.

no Staubach???? Even if you put your man-crush Wentz in there, you think White is on the team's MR more than Staubach? and Romo more than Roger the Dodger?

I am a fan of the Cowboys today because of Staubach...
